Show THE SALT LAKE TIMES Lloyd Co-sponso- rs Resolution to Release Enemy POWs A resolution proposing the unconditional release of about 1600 enemy prisoners of war now held in South Vietnam was cosponsored in the House this week by Rep. Sherman P. Lloyd of Utah. He said the purpose of the move would be to focus world attention on the plight of all POWs and to bring "maximum pressure to bear on Hanoi and the National Liberation Front for a humanitarian response. The number of enemy prisoners to be released equals the number of American prisoners listed as missing in action or in prison in Southeast Asia. Rep. Lloyd said the proposal is endorsed by Defense Secretary Melvin R. Laird, the president of the National League of Families of Americans Missing in Southeast Asia, and Col. Frank Borman, special representative of the President on prisoners of war. "Under this plan, allied authorities would release 1,600 Communist prisoners simultaneously from a location in the demilitarized zone dividing the North and South Vietnam.
