Show AT THE THEATER LAST NICHT. The House Packed to It Utmost Capacity An Enthusiastic Audience. The theater last night was packed to its utmost capacity and "Hazel Kirke" aspresentad by the Homo Dramatic company received a .most enthusiastic welcome. There was a perfect jam at the door. So great was the crowd that it was almost impossible to get inside the house. Many of the people had been standing in line for two hours before be-fore the doors opened. "Hazel Kirke" grows better with every performance. Of Couldock it is unnecessary to speak but the members of the home club are improving. Mr. Spencer is undoubtedly the best of the company, - His Pitticus Green is really an artistic study. ' It is smoothe, easy and graceful. He seems to live the part. In his hands it is full of surprisessurprises surpri-sessurprises that please. After Mr. Spencer, I am inclined to give the palm to Miss Birdie Cum-mings. Cum-mings. As Dolly Dutton dear, delicious, delici-ous, delightful Dolly Dutton she is the epitome of coquettish sweetness. She moves easily and naturally on the stage. Last night she knew her lines perfectly (she was not altogether certain of them the first night). Her love for the poor Pitty Green forms the one bright spot in the otherwise sombre play. Mr. Young as Squire Rodney is hardly up to the standard. ' He knows his lines and says them but hot much more can be said of him. He is on the whole a good bit of a stick. . , THE MIDNIGHT BELL. ' , " On Thursday night wjll.be given Hoyt's "Midnight Bell."' This is a play much in the style of "The Old Homestead," Home-stead," and after that play, ranks first among the dramas of this particular school. ( ' |
