The State committee teld a meeting tonight, and at an early hour this morning morn-ing had set agreed upon a chairman, that question finally being left with the nominee far Oorerner. -He. will decide tomorrow, "We demand tke extirpation of po-Jygamr po-Jygamr and unlawful cohabitation in the State of Idaho and the complete separation of church and state in political po-litical affairs." When Chairman Parke of the resolutions reso-lutions committee began , reading the platform there was unusual quiet, but as he named the party, leaders the applause burst forth, and when he read the plank indorsing Senator Dubois (he convention went wild. . The planks .pertaining to the wiping out ot polygamy and advocating the "test oath" were 4oudly applauded. There was unanimity when the platform was adopted, the entire convention rising to show its approval. Then Chairman Helt-feld Helt-feld called P. M. Davla to the chair, and taking the floor In a brief, but well-timed well-timed address, presented - the name of Senator Dubois to succeed himself as United States Senator. ZXabolg Was Olren Oration. Former Lieut. -Gov. Hutchinson , seconded sec-onded the nomination, and the Senator was nominated by acclamation. He was given a great ovation as he walked to the platform, when he spoke In part as follows: "I can say with perfect truth and sincerity sin-cerity that no matter what honors have come to me, I wa nver so proud as at this moment. Indorsed, as I am by a splendid citizenship making a fight against a tyranny which, if unchecked, would undermine the foundation of the country. We are heartily in favor cf the enactment of an - employers' liability law and we hereby pledge our representativjs In the Legislature to enact such law. We favor the enactment of an eight-hour law applicable to all men employed und ir ground. In smelters, concentrators and ore reduction re-duction works. We pledge the faith of the Democratic party to the enactment of auch a law, and we denounce de-nounce the inconsistency of tbe Republican party In advocating such legislation, which has twice defeated the eight-hour bill In tbe State Legislature'. We are opposed to the domination of all trusts and monopolies in, tbe Judicial, political po-litical and commercial life of the State. We therefore pledge our representatives in tbe Legialature to secure the enactment of such law that will sumarily auppresa these evils. In this connection we specifically denounce the Interference of the smelter trust in the selection of the Judge for the First Judicial dlstirct. ' ' . W hereby pledge tne nominee of this convention for Governor to appoint aa ln-uraace ln-uraace commissioner who will see to it that the so-called "six-bit" insurance companies com-panies be prevented from doing business in Idaho until they pay their honest debts. We further pledge the people to pas more effective legislation to protect policy-holders. We favor the enactment by our Legislature Legisla-ture ot a primary election law whereby candidates can-didates for office shall be nominated by dl rect vote ot the people, and we pledge our :Klslatlve candidates, tn tbe event of their election, to work for the passage ot such law. We deplore the untimely death ot our honorable hon-orable cittaen and ex-Governor, Hon. Frank Steunenbcrg, by the hand of an aaaasain, and we demand that the person or persons responsible re-sponsible therefor, whomsoever tfiey may be, be puniabed to the full extent of tbe law. We favor the submission of a constitutional amendment to the people providing for a separate - election st a time other than the general election of State and county officers, when shall be elected Judges of tbe Supreme Su-preme and District court and County and Stat superintendents of schools. Until luch constitutional amendment can be adopted It should be the policy of the Democrats of thl State to aelect candidates for these Important Im-portant offices with regard solely to ability, integrity and moral worth, disregarding political po-litical affinities and demanding and expecting expect-ing no partisan support or surrender of political po-litical conviction on the part of a nominee. We pledge the party to enact a Stats' Board of Health law for the. control of contagious con-tagious and infection diseases and for the collection of vital statistics, .
