Arthur - Murphy has arrived from Pioche where he. has been superlntend-. superlntend-. Ing some work for the E. and'F. com-' com-' . pany In 'the mines of that section, and, ' beside placing the mine in good condl- j tlon, he sent out a car of ore to the market to pay for the Improvements that v.-ere made. Mr. Murphy reports everyiAlng very -quiet around Pioche, and cays that not until some more ln expensive way is provided for the forwarding for-warding of ore to the market, doer he look for greater activity among the producers of that section. Mr. Murphy says that there are some big companies Interested down In that country, and that there is plenty of money to be had for the opening up of some of the well-known mineral belts. However, it will be useless to attempt to overcome the great handicap that they are now laboring under. All the companies In. and around Pioche sire looking forward to the extension of the railroad into this territory, and as soon as this line has been completed, which it is thought will be within a very short time, such large companies as the Utah-Nevada Utah-Nevada will begin the production of ore on a very extensive scale, there being be-ing some large-bodies, at tbe present time blocked out in several of Ihe old-time old-time bonanzas. . Mr. Murphy will leave for the Alta camp within a few days, where he Is conducting a store, and ,he will look Into the possibility of the mines of that region before again giving his attention to other parts of the State. ' Work on the reclamation of the Con-pon Con-pon mine is being pushed with all possible pos-sible haste and as soon as the water has been drawn from some of the stations sta-tions where It prevented the miners ,'rom prosecuting the .development of this very promising proposition in the ningham district, several years ago, the caved portions of the mine will be cleaned up and some extensive improvements improve-ments on the property will be made. It has been known for some time that there was a company who wanted to purchase the property, provided the bre that has been uncovered could be inspected, in-spected, but the water prevented an Investigation In-vestigation and It was with a view to drying-the mine and giving the prospective pros-pective purchasers a chance of making an Investigation that the present work was begun.) ? fThe Congor Is a very promising property, prop-erty, and this was clearly demonstrated during the period that the present owners own-ers were, proving up the ore bodies. However, as soon as water was tapped It filed up the mine so rapidly that It was abandoned. As to the exact amount that has been agreed upon for the transferring trans-ferring of the property to the new company com-pany the present owners are not willing to divulge, but it -is safe to presume that something like a quarter of a million mil-lion dollars will be required to close the deal. MINING NOTES. ' Manager George Dern Is busying himself him-self with the compilation of the annual report of, the conditions underground at the Consolidated Mercur mines, which will be In readiness ; for Ihe -shareholders In a few days. ' Hartwlg A.' Cohen, having completed his Inspection of the Utah Copper properties prop-erties in Bingham, in which he Is heavily heav-ily interested, has taken his departure for the coast and expresses himself as very much surprised with the wonder- ful showing In this copper-bearing zone. The annual meeting of the shareholders sharehold-ers of the New Tork Bonanza is scheduled sched-uled to take place in this city on September Sep-tember 12, when the election of officers for the ensuing year will occur apd the annual reports showing what the prop-ertythas prop-ertythas produced will be given out.
