KELLY'S HOME VISITED BY FIRE The residence of Elliott Kelly, president presi-dent and general manager of The Salt Lake Telegram, situated at 933 Second street was -badly damaged by fire early yesterday morning. - No one was at home at the time the fire was discovered, discov-ered, as Mr. and Mrs. Kelly and their daughter had gone to the Hermitage, late Saturday afternoon to remain until un-til Sunday afternoon. , The fire department made a fine run i I. to the blase, which was discovered by --.. neighbors at 5 o'clock, Sunday morn-"lng, morn-"lng, and the, firemen and the neighbors . IHd excellent work In removing the plaflo and valuable furniture from the lower floor before the fire or water reached it. The firemen under the direction di-rection of Chief Bywater did all that O could be done to keep the damage down i- to a minimum. The volunteer salvage corps assisting the firemen did excellent excel-lent work. . When the fire was discovered, it had gained good headway and it was with difficulty that It could be confined to the upper part of the house until the V salvage corps has saved the greater part of the valuable furnishings of the lower floor. Fire Chief Bywater Is of the opinion that the fire originated in 'a bathroom closet on the second floor. Mr. Kelly does not entertain any sus--plcions of incendiarism. Mr. Kelly carried Insurance upon m both the building and the contents. He was notified by telephone of his loss and he and Mrs. Kelly returned to the t (.-city from the Hermitage at once. J 5 The furnishings of the lower floor were badly water soaked, as a large quantity of M ater was . needed to get the fire In the top of the building under control. |
