Show MARRIED WHILE BOTH BRIDE AND BRIDEGROOM" ARE UNDER QUARANTINE The marriage of Miss Josephine Groesbeck and Mr. Joseph Cannon Friday Fri-day afternoon adds another chapter to the romantic novel of life. The wedding wed-ding had been planned for a week later, but unforeseen circumstances altered the plans in a way seldom if ever before be-fore heard. The bride-elect, hearing that her affianced was ill, went to his home, and found him quarantined with smallpox. The operation of the quarantine quar-antine regulations placed her in quarantine quar-antine also, and then the real romantic part of the story followed. A quick decision was reached by the contracting parties and preparations were hurriedly made for the event. They wofald be married that day. The home wis soon a bank of sunflowers, and on the porch Navajoes and cushions cush-ions were hastily placed. Soon the place, looked as If some fete was to be held. The telephone was then used to bring a deputy from the County Clerk's office with the marriage license, and all .was nearly ready. At the home of one of the girl's friends a shower party bad met as planned, and wondered why tbe guest of honor did not appear. Soon the 'phone rang in that home and the party was bidden to hurry to the Cannon Can-non home. Speculations as to the cause of the altered plan were many, and until un-til they 'arrived they were at a loss to know why the house was in such gala attire. ' The guests were quickly seated on the spacious lawn, and a brother of the bridegroom, an elder in the church, performed the ceremony which made them man and Wife. The unusual chain of circumstances which was around the scene of the wedding made further celebrations cel-ebrations Impossible. The guests departed de-parted without having had the pleasure of the usual bridal customs. The original plans included a honeymoon honey-moon trip to the World's fair. This will,' of course, have to be postponed. The happy couple have the best wishes of a host of friends. |
