Show GOOD DEAL OF MYSTERY SURROUNDS HER DEATH Young Chicago Woman Expires in New York Under Suspicious Circumstances. NEW YORK, March 6. A good deal' of mystery surrounds the death of a woman who had registered as "Nellie Blanchard, Chicago," and who was found dead in a rooming-house In West Thirty-seventh street last night. It was partly part-ly cleared today by the statement that a physician had examined the body and told the' police the. woman probably had died of natural causes. In connection with the statement of the man with whom the woman came to the house Sunday, Sun-day, when the room was engaged for her, that they came from Chicago, the police reported today that a check for a sleeping car berth on the. Michigan Central was found among her effects. The man paid for the room and after banding the woman some bottles of dark liquid the landlady's sister says rbe heard him say: "Don't forget tq take this medicine.'. You know I am a physician." One of the bottles was found emptY The police ere looking for the man.- The police found an alligator skin reticule among the woman's effects. Several Sev-eral bottles of medicine in the rectlcule had been filled at Morton's pharmacy in Chicago on a Dr. Hyde's prescription. Several of them were labeled "Miss Fletcher." A class pin with thletters "D. M. 97" was found in the reticule. A key was found on the dresser in the room and the key was tagged "Metropole hotel. Hotel B." |
