Show EMMA consolidated EXPANDING it was reported some time ago that the emma co consolidated was negotiating for the purchase of the alta townsite property south of the company holdings and had practically consummated the deal which would add materially to its domain says the salt lake herald republican now it is reported that the emma consolidated is sparring tor for the purchase of the flagstaff portion of the wasatch mines property this ground borders the emma on the west some time ago the emma is said to have dated and michigan utah to the east and may get them another report is that the rice crowd even desires to absorb the entire wa wasatch atch mines property that it may possess the new lower working tunnel with which it may develop and drain at great depth its entire holdings the new lower tunnel the wasatch mines is driving will give feet vertical depth under the lowest workings of its old columbus mine by continuing this tunnel on easterly it would run under the emma proper and give probably feet or more depth this is said by engineers who know every foot of alta to be a feasible project and would be worth hundreds of thousands to the emma or to the north side of alta drifts sent out to the south could also open up and drain at great depth the south hecla sells albian east hecla peruvian and all the south side as well the matter of consolidating all the south side of alta into one big holding company and the north side into another big corporation is considered possible if practical it is declared that the joint interests int ersts could run this big tunnel and work advantageously from it all the two vast mineral belts also that they should jointly own the power plant down little cottonwood canyon which would at once be increased to supply the entire camp with needed electric power at present it is inadequate and irregular while the number of independent active properties is increasing it is said that the coming summer will witness a big shortage of power for alta where there is a rapidly increasing demand |
