Show THE supreme court of colorado has decided that the eight hour law recently passed by the legisla legislature of that state is dional the attempt to oppose the new law by the smelting smelling sm elting companies of colorado resulted in a strike on the part of smelter oper atiles and for a month or more many of the smelling smelting sm elting works of the state have been closed down the result being that thousands of miners were also thrown out of employ employment pent the decision way was rendered but a few days ago and it is is difficult at this time to predict on what basis the contending elements will adjust their difficulties but it is safe to say that the eight hour law for colorado has come to stay even if it has been declared unconstitutional for the reason that the theary is right ln and just no difference by whom demanded in utah the eight hour proposition is evidently giving satisfaction as but little kicking is being done as to its application the work in the smelter and the mine is harder and attended with more danger to life and health than is the usual accompaniment of other occupations and wages consequently should be higher and hours of labor shorter it is to be hoped that the difficulty in the centennial state will speedily be adjusted to the satisfaction of all concerned |
