Show A Millers' Convention. Toledo, IS. The millers' convention conven-tion elected as officers, for the ensuing ensu-ing year, Jacob Barnes, of Michigan, president, with one vice-president, uf each Slate; and F H, Morrill, of Michigan, secretary und rcusurcr, The report of the committee on a constitution, after discussion :Vnd amendment, was adopted. The standing stand-ing committee presented a lengthy report ou the objects ami benefits of a millers' national association. At the evening -session a resolution was presented, pre-sented, declaring it important that each State should have a millers' association as-sociation for the purpose of regulating the manufacture of ilour, and giving to this association the benefit of their influence and information, for the general government of the whole, and requesting each vice-president to call a meeting of the millers in his St. -it e to perfect such organization. After considerable discussion the resolution was laid on the table. Messrs, Hayes, of aichigan, and White, of Ohio, addressed the meeting, urging the ini'Mirtance of earnest dibits looking to the permanent success of the national na-tional aocialion. The convention then adjourned to meet in Chicago on the second Wednesday iu J;uuiary, 1S74. |
