As we frequently receive letters from persons iu various parts of the States, inquiring about lvko, its population, etc., we have concluded to answer ali -ueh inquiries by publishing the following follow-ing stati-tics, which we have obtained by a careful count of the main l'act.-presentcd. l'act.-presentcd. We hud an aggregate of lU places of business divided as follows: Two iivery staMes, i furniture stores, 2 drug stores, 1 jeweler, 'i hotels, 1G saloons, .3 blacksmith shops, 7 lawyers, 4 doe tors, 3 tobuceo stores, i wholesale gro-eeiy gro-eeiy stores, 1 bank, 3 shoemaker shops. 2 dry goods stores, 3 tailor shops, 2 breweries, 2 vegetable depoti, 2 hardware hard-ware and stove stores, 1 guusmith, 4 restaurants, 2 clothing stores, 3 barber shops, 2 butcher do., 1 saddler, 1 lumber lum-ber ard, 2 coal depots 3 warehouses, 2 wagon shops, 1 printing otlice, 2 Oakeries, Oake-ries, 1 milliner shop, 3 dressmakers, 2 carpenter shops o lodging houses, 1 dance house, 1 theatre, 2 bookstores and news depots, 2 telegraph offices and 1 express otlice. In addition to these substantial evidences of prosperity, pros-perity, we boast of the tincst court liuusc in the S.ate, costing in its erection erec-tion and appointments some $25,000 ; a substantial brick school house, capable of aceomm odating 100 pupils; a church of tho Presbyterian persuasion, persua-sion, that is an ornament and credit to our people, together with buildings suitably furnished, for taking care ol the indigent sick. To support these varied interests we have a thrifty farming farm-ing population occupying our fertile va'leys, lieinuicd about by the richest belt of mineral ground the sun ever shone upon, which only awaits the magic touch "f capital and enterprise to render E ko county the richest commonwealth on the face of the globe. We have the re-sources to sup port and supply an immense popu.a-tioti, popu.a-tioti, bo'h agricultural aud miueral ; ihousat ds of acres of lan 1. unsurpassed for the stock raiser and husbandman, await occupancy. Millions of tons ot ore, which will pay large profits, lie buiied iu our mountains.
