Show Death ofGcrritt Smith. 'New York, 28. Gerritt Smith is dying at the house of one of his relations rela-tions in this city. Mr. Smith, in company with his wife, arrived in town on Thursday for the purpose of 1 spending tho holidays among his friends. Ho was in remarkably good health, his cheek as ruddy, his eye as clear, his voice as firm aud his step as elastic as they had been for many years. He had made arrangements to meet Charles O'Conor on Saturday. Ho arose early and said to Mrs. Smith, he had slept uncommonly well, stating he had not spent so merry a Christinas for a long time as on the day before. While dressing his utterance utter-ance suddenly became indistinct, and he was gently borne to a bed, bare'.y able to Buy m a faint tone, "very weak." He immediately became unconscious un-conscious aud has thus remained ever since. He seemed to be suffering under a combined attack of apoplexy aud paralysis. Later.
