Show HIS STUMPING EXCELLENCY. The Webfoot at Tooele. Tooele Crry, July 30, 1S74. Editors Herald: Yesterday evening we were favored uv-Lf V1it r0m hia Excellency Gov. Woods. He was returning "from a stumping tour through the Countv. The Governor takes a personal in-terestin in-terestin the issueof the next election. ,He belongs to the "Liberal Ring" and is stumping for their special benefit. He made a speech in front of the Oquirrh House to a rather small audience. He wa3 followed bv Hon. John Rowbeny, vrho refuted some of the unwarranted assertions made by his Excellency. A negro minstrel tfouj was performing per-forming here the same evening but I don't think the Governor had am-connection am-connection with the troupe from the fact that they were runniug opposition to one another. It may not be amiss to state that .his Excellency omitted to make known to the city authorities his coming.. He merely sent notice to a Methodist parson that he would be here, which accounts for so little public demonstration, and so cool a reception on the part of our loyal citizens. M. |
