Show THE SHOTS IN COLLIN'S CLOTHES. Who made the Bullet-Holes In II is Coats Present Condition of. ncMnrriu. Z ." This afternoon a Democrat reporter made an inspection of the clothes worn by Deputy Collin at the time of the shooting. The garments inspected consisted con-sisted of an overcoat, a cutaway coat, a cheviot . shirt and an undershirt Through the . left sleeve of each of these garments, near the - point of the shoulder, are two bullet-holes bullet-holes made in such a way as to appear that one ball made both of them. In each lapel of both coats there are two more large holes, the edges of which were badly burned and singed. On the undershirt there was a drop of blood. This was on the right breast. There are also some spots of mud on the coats. The holes in the lapels of the coat mav iiave been made by Collin . when, he shot McMurrin, but the deputy says he thinks that while the latter had him around the neck that some one stepped up behind him and, putting his arm around him from the right side, fired, thus making the holes m the sleeves. The ball that entered en-tered the sleeves, spent its force and fell in Collin's hand, and is at present in his possession. , The excitement of the shooting afrav is slowly subsiding, and the feeling on all sides is assuming a steadier equilibrium. That this fearful tragedv shonld have happened is regretted by all sensible people, peo-ple, Morniori and Gentile alike. I The condition of McMurrin is about the same, there being at last reports apparently ap-parently no great change. Dr. Benedict has little hope of his recovery, and notwithstanding not-withstanding that he rests pretty easy, he may at any time take a turn and die in a few hours. |
