Show Many of the courses taught at seem to have imaginary lines categorizing them as being basically male OR female trades There are however individuals individuals individuals in in- who cross these imaginary imaginary imaginary nary lines and find the end result very rewarding Three of these individuals are Cindy Sandy Steiner Stein- Stein er and Judy Semon These women women women wo wo- men are enrolled in the auto mechanics class Cindy is a year 21 old widow mother of a year 4 old daughter and a native of North Dakota She domes comes from a large family of six sisters and two brothers Cindy is presently enrolled enrolled enrolled en en- rolled in Auto Mechanics When asked why she decided to take this predominantly male course she replied Ive always had an interest in how cars operate but have never had any experience It is a challenge to me to take a acar acar acar car apart repair it and have it run well when Im I'm finished I am really enjoying the chassis course I am in presently It seems Im I'm learning something new every day although sometimes sometimes sometimes some some- times there isn't enough work to keep us busy Cindy isn't sure yet whether she will make auto mechanics her profession yet but she is sure she will use her newly gained skill throughout her life Sandy Steiner is the second woman to enroll in auto mechanics ics and is in her second quarter Sandy the mother of two children ages 9 and 7 She has been a back backyard backyard backyard yard mechanic most of her life and probably has the most experience experience experience exper exper- of the three women She worked for a short time for Mountain Bell with Sol When Sandy graduates she hopes to work in a shop and then eventually have her own Is It h A Mans Man's t World Id Judy Semon ow elk o z 1 I I |
