Be A Student Senator The Associated Students of Utah Technical College are represented by elected Student Senators who comprise the Student Senate There are seven student Senators-at-Large Senators of which five were elected spring quarter 1984 The two additional Senators-at-Large Senators and eight Departmental Senators from the four schools of the College will be elected on October 24 Senators are needed from the following programs 1 Management Marketing and Office Administration 2 Accounting and Data Processing 3 Automotive Metals 4 4 Construction Graphics and Service Building Construction 5 5 Technology and Health Science 6 General Education 7 Continuing Education 8 Apprenticeship Student Senators assist in initiating policies procedures and programs to enhance the welfare of students at Utah Tech by attending weekly Senate meetings and serving on student committees Qualifications for candidates interested in Senate positions are V 1 1 Member of SL at the time of election and during the preceding quarter 2 Have completed ten quarter hours credit in the quarter immediately i. i preceding election and carry ten credit hours per quarter during the term of office 3 3 Maintain a cumulative GP A of 25 or better while holding office Just complete an application by October 8 and after your qualifications are verified you may begin campaigning Campaign Rules and Regulations 1 Candidates will promote voting along with their campaigning 2 Candidates may only actively campaign for one office F L 3 No campaigning on election day October r 24 Campaign will end Tuesday f October 23 j 4 4 Posters will be allowed on brick on the inside of the buildings None will be bej permitted on glass or painted walls or on the outside of buildings No stakes may be placed in the lawn on campus If so they will be removed by bythe the election committeeS committee S' S q 5 There will be no vote on the downtown campus only at the Redwood Road Campus Polls will be open from am a.m. to pm p.m. and to pm p.m. Voting during the day will be in the South Cafeteria and at night in the Technology Building lobby 6 6 Candidates may submit a portrait for Points West by Thursday morning October 11 for the October 18 edition IS Ed Lile will take your picture if you are unable to locate one These will be taken Thursday October 11 at 11 am a.m. Write ups on candidates will be included with the portrait in the paper These will be done by the Journalism class merican Collegiate jori ort r I I Publications International is sponsoring a V Rational onal College Contest t Fall 1984 1984 open to all college and university students desiring to have their poetry anthologized CASH PRIZES will go to the top five poems 50 25 15 Fourth First Place Second Place Third Place 10 Fifth AWARDS of free printing for ALL accepted manuscripts in our popular handsomely bound and copyrighted anthology AMERICAN COLLEGIATE P POETS ETS Deadline October 31 CONTEST RULES AND RESTRICTIONS 1 Any student is eligible to submit his or her verse 2 All entries must be to original and unpublished 3 All entries must be typed spaced double-spaced on one side of the page only Each poem must be on a separate sheet and must bear in the upper lefthand lefthand lefthand left- left hand corner the NAME and ADDRESS of the student as well as the COLLEGE attended Put name and address on envelope also alsol 4 There are no restrictions on form or theme Length of poems up to fourteen lines Each poem must have a separate title r V Avoid Untitled Small black and white illustrations welcome I 5 The judges judges' decision will be final No info by phone I 6 Entrants should keep a copy of all entries as they cannot be returned Prize winners and all authors awarded free publication will be notified immediately after deadline IP will retain first publication rights f for r accepted poems Foreign language poems welcome 7 7 There is an initial one dollar registration fee for the first entry and a afee fee of fifty cents for each additional poem It is requested to submit no more than ten poems per entrant L 8 All entries must be postmarked not later than the above deadline and fees be paid cash check or money order to p V INTERNATIONAL PUBLICATIONS I P.
