| Show America Homes of the Free Land of i the by George Gibbons After fourteen years of Vietnam to suddenly pull pullout pullout pullout out and give the land to forces we were opposed to from the start has triggered a more recent event We have 50 Americans Americans Americans Ameri Ameri- cans held hostage by a group of students Where does it stop Do Dowe Dowe Dowe we as Americans continue to let another country rape us of our pride young Americans died on foreign soil for what According According According Ac Ac- cording to US U.S. foreign policy policy policy pol pol- icy they died fighting for those who could not fight for themselves Those who lived and came home were faced with a wall of fear from American people waiting for them to snap I and start killing people I And in other parts of the I country were faced with I people telling them how wrong they were and how they should have ignored the call of their country's leaders And eventually even our great leaders slammed the door on the hand reaching out for help Let me put the question question question ques ques- tion to you where do these brave men go to now for forthe forthe forthe the help and counseling they need so desperately 50 Americans have lived over days in the most unthinkable situa situa- tion Oh what a great country we are that a small group of students overrun our embassy and bring our administration to its knees through the act of terrorism I cant can't help but wonder if it had been the Russians' Russians embassy embassy embassy em em- bassy would they be in the same situation I think not And if so I cant can't help but wonder how many of those students would have died trying I dont don't blame anyone for fighting for jus jus- tice but taking charge of 50 innocent people and holding them is a simple act of kidnapping and terrorism terrorism terrorism ter ter- and hurts no one but the innocent Where do we draw the theline theline theline line America Do we continue continue continue con con- to let our judgement be shaded by fear If so I Isee Isee Isee see no chance in gaining back our pride among the world powers I dont don't discount discount discount dis dis- count the fact that re restraint restraint restraint re- re is necessary in some situations but where we as a country allow ourselves into situations situations situations situa situa- we as a people should use all the resources resources resources re re- sources available to us and again bring the world to peace time For the American people should always be able to walk proud with our fellowmen at our side and let no one be forced to hide in the shadow of disgrace |
