Jenna ov er the past year has been involved in a lot of programs at NSIIS , including being one in 50 students at NSHS w ho were selec ted to participate in the Snow' College Talent SearchProgram. Also, Jenna has been invited to attend NSHS Acdemic Awards banquet. for her oui standing achievement for GPA Jenna is a team member of NSHS volleyball, baksetball and Lmk teams Sue will be compcung with her teammates at BYU this weekend at the state track inals. Historic Cove Fort is now open to the public Restoration w ork on Cove Fort, a 19th century Mormon pioneer wilderness outpost in southwestern Utah, is complete, and the fort was dedicated May 8, according to the LDS Church. The fort was built by the Church 1867 when Utah was a U.S. terriin the property has changed but tory, hands over the years. In recent years it was acquired by the Historic Cove Fort Acquisition and Restoration Foundation, an organization directed by the descendants of Pioneer Ira N. Hinckley, under w hose direction the fort w;as built in 1867. One of Hinckleys grandsons, President Gordon B. Hinckley, first counselor in the Churchs First Presidency, formally dedicatee the site. The Center opened to the public at 2 p.m. The 100 x 100 foot walled-i- n structure includes a central courtyard plus small rooms on the north and south furnished with 1867-7- 7 period furniture. Of the many forts build in the early days of the Utah Territory, Cove Fort is the only one still standing with its walls intact. Approximately 300 of the most imaginative and creative pieces will be selected for display in the exhibit which will open October 9, 1992, and run through February 7, 1993. All artwork will become property of the museum and will not be returned to the participants. Ben Heath earns ribbons at Kanab 10,000 Meter run Salina businessman Ben Heath has added more ribbons to his collection for participation in the 8th annual Kanab 10,000 Meter run, held last Saturday, in Kanab. The 6.2 mile race began at the Moki caves, north of Kanab, and ended in the city center. Participants represented several stales. Mr. Heath says more than 500 people attend the event. There was also a racewalk div ision, as well as vl'ob t oil, collage, or other art mediums on paper. Utah Stale University Enrichment Classes will hold dutch oven cooking classes on Saturday, June 13, and Saturday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 pm. The annual event is held at Upper Guimvah in Logan Canyon. More than 1,600 people have learned the art of dutch oven cooking from this program. Master teachers, cooks and caterers, Wallace & Pat Kohler, and Mike & Juanita Kohler, have 27 years dutch oven cooking and teaching experience. Students learn how to season and clean a dutch oven and to prepare a variety of meats, vegetables and desserts. The teachers demonstration preparation of 14 dishes; stu dents are served a complete meal by sampling the food. Information and a recipe booklet are provided. The demonstration is around the fire; students are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and beverage. The classes fill very fast each summer. The earlier you register, the better your chance of getting the class. for the June 13 class must be completed by June 8; for the July 18 class, by July 13.
