Redmond at 1 p.m. Aurora Fire Dept, sets Cookout The Aurora Fire Department is having its Third Annual Dutch Oven Chicken Dinner on September 10, at the Aurora City Park, beginning at 7 pm. There will be scones, salad ahd dessert. Everyone is welcome to attend. Cost will be $3.50 per or $20 per family, or by plate, donation. The home of Roy Cook, Salina, was burglarized that same evening. A tool was used to open locked doors, and an attempt was made to pry open the pop machine. Cash was taken, according to Kiesel. The night of August 29-3- 0 saw eight bikes taken from homes throughout Salina. Most were taken to other areas and hidden, according to Kiesel. All eventually found their way back to their original owners in good condition, Kiesel reported. The same night, August 29-3entry was gained into the office area at North Sevier High School. Several doors were forced open allowing entry into the conference room, office, principals office, book store and restrooms. Cash was taken from a cash box. 10-4- and cash was taken. September 1, entry was made into the Branding Iron Restaurant 0, Voters prepare for Primary Election The new Punch Card ballot will be used in this years Primary and General elections, according to Devon Poulson, Sevier County Clerk. The ballot card will be placed in the voting device, and punches will be made at the side of the name the voter prefers to vote for. Contests to be decided in the September 13th Primary include the following races: Republican Party: For State Representative, District No. 71, Tom Christensen, incumbent will face M. John Hales. For two year county commissioner, Jay F. Gardner, Paul Turner. Democratic Party races will see Craig S. Oliver against Robert W. Stringham for U.S. Representative District No. 3. Marvin D. Hansen against Clair Rickenbach for Two Year County Commissioner. Aurora residents will vote for one of the following for Sevier County School District Precinct No. 4: Judy Oldroyd, Jerry W Hansen, Dale Albrecht Jr., and Jerold Johnson. IN Choke-cherrie- New policies put into action at NSHS North Sevier High School has been underway in the North Sevier area for over a week, and things are going pretty well, according to Timothy Smith, principal of North Sevier High School. There have been several changes effected at NSHS, but students seem to be adapting well. Grades on report cards at the end of the 9 week and 27 week reports will be averaged into the final semester grade. Additional progress reports will be given at each 4 12 week period. Eligibility will also be determined every 4 12 weeks. The school has gone to a semester grading period, instead of the quarter system, as in the past. The changes here will include: final transcript grades will be entered twice a year. Report cards will be issued at the end of 9 weeks, 18 weeks, 27 weeks, and 36 weeks. The big problems, failure to tag; hunting without a valid license; killing illegal buck; and wasting wildlife; have been a law enforcement problem all along, and continue to be problems for law enforcement this year. A new problem has come about this year due to olds hunting without adult supervision.
