South Sevier came out on topof the Wolves All in all Coach Glen Partridge was pleased with the efforts of the team and coaching staff for their season opener. He explained that many parts of the game looked good for so early in the season. The Wolves kicked off first to South Sevier and right off the bat forced a fumble on the 12 yard line and the Wolves found themselves in scoring position early in the game. Their only problem, they couldnt get the points and turned the ball back over to South Sevier after they ran out of downs. This time the Rams were stopped when Corbin Partridge intercepted a pass and ran the ball to the eight yard line. Once again the Wolves were unable to punch it in and gave the ball back over to South Sevier. Partridge explained that a play was sent in late and also poor play selection were blamed for the i. r . But I want to talk about other precious members of our families South Sevier won the toss of got their chance of scoring from the 10 yard line in four plays. It did not take them four plays as they hit their tight end in the comer of the end zone on the first play and they moved the score to 12-- 6 as they were unable to score the extra point Next North Sevier had their chance to score from the 10 yard line. Unable to move the ball with a run and two passes Corbin Partridge scrambled to the 2 yard line on their last down and a dejected team moved slowly from the field after their first loss after a well fought the coin and therefore game. We have a real smart bunch of kids this year on the team and I feel they will do well, said Partridge. He stated that he felt bad for the loss but that he also felt good about the progress of the team to date this year and could see many aspects of the game they executed well during the game. Perhaps were satisfying our own duty or feelings of our responsibility we think by furnishing things will make them contented -- - at least for a while. Material things are really not so very important, even though we live in a highly materialistic society. Oh, maybe a better bike for the youngster, or a nicer family car causes some pride and satisfaction, but compared to giving of ourselves, theres just no comparison. I remember the story when I was younger about the father who spent his small savings to remodel the bathroom, but just didnt have the time or money for a promised d and family vacation. A young family member expressed in later years that he didnt remember a thing about how the bathroom looked, but he never forgot that there was never time or money for doing memorable things as a family. If Dad would only give of himself to us, instead of things. Well, we all love kids and hope we can be better parents. Hopefully we can learn to give our time, attention, and ourselves to Wartnelny lose heartbreaker in first game of year But once again the defense came through and forced South Sevier to punt and the ball came out to the 45 yard line. This time there was no stopping the Wolves and they scored on a 1 yard quarterback sneak by Corbin Partridge. And the breaks did not stop there for the Wolves as in the next series of downs the Rams fumbled and North Sevier recovered. But this time the Wolves got the ball to the three yard line and fumbled themselves with the Rams recovering and this set up the 97 yard drive for the next score in the ball game. At half the score was 1 2 to 1 2. The lopsided game for the Wolves in the first half did not repeat itself during the second half. The third and fourth quarters had both teams threatening, both teams moving the ball, both teams defending well, but neither team scoring. I felt like we were playing hard but we were out of momentum a little the second half, said Partridge. At the end of regulation play the score was tied 6-- 6 which set up the overtime tries. 12-- 6. The Snllnn inn 8 and circle of friends. How about our older friends and family members who look to us for loving and caring? Do they desire things, or would they be happier to just have some special bits of our time ourselves? Recently, I witnessed a choice family scene where many children and grandchildren gathered to help clean up the house and yard. It was great, and mother was delighted, but I overheard one of the daughters say, Im sorry. Mother, we came to work. We just dont have time to visit This reminded me of the times we used to visit my wifes mother and how I was so busy cleaning and painting, there was no way to take time to visit to really give of myself. After all, the work that was being done was really the important thing. Or was it? My dear friends, may we each take more time to give ourselves to our parents and elderly neighborhood friends. Were always so for those who visit at the Care happy Center and truly give of themselves. Please give what is really important yourself, not things. - - LOTS OF PEP: The Salina Cheerleaders didnt let the gray, rainy weather put a damper on the spirit of last week's game against the South Sevier Rams.
