To qualify to participate in this meet each of the District held there own meet prior to Riding Clubs attending Region. from our in meet this participating Salina - (formerly White's Western Wear) We are now accepting appointments! For More Information please Call: Ruth Baker area were Salina Riding Club, Gunnison Riding Club, and Redmond Willowcreek Wranglers Riding Club. There are 5 Districts in our Region with over 18 riding clubs entered in these events. Friday evening all the team events were held with Gunnison teams coming away with many 1st place trophies. Winners in the Water Race were Gunnison A Team consisting of Brad Bown, Sam Brown, Merri Lynn Sorenson, Jan Roper and Perry Sorenson taking 1st Place and Redmond taking 5th place with Burke and Jolene Willardson, Maylcn Mickelsen, Gordon Johnson, and Mark Lewis. Potato Race winner was Gunnison A Team with Brad Bown, Sam and Virginia Brown, Randy Pickett, and Brice Roberts taking 1st place. In the Single Poles Sam Brown of Gunnison Riding Club placed 6th. Placing in the team pole bending was Gunnison with Lou and Reed Knudsen, Sam and Virginia Brown, and Perry Sorenson taking 3rd Place. Salina Riding Club were the only team from our area placing in the Ladies Barrels with Elsie Anderson Liking 2nd. Team Barrels was a good event for our area with Gunnison A Team placing 1 st with John and Jan Roper, Randy and Jacquc Pickett, and Perry Sorenson, 3rd place was Gunnison B Team with Lu Knudsen, Sam Brown, Brad Bown, Mcrri Lynn Sorenson and Virginia Brown, 4th place was Salina Riding Club with Paula Merchant, Phyllis Torgcrson, Vivian Baker, Elsie Anderson, and Conrad Miller, and 6th place went to Redmond Riding Club with Burke Willardson, Maylcn Mickelsen, Gordon Johnson, Kardcll Rasmussen, and Mark Lewis. The Hide Race found Sam Brown and Brice Roberts taking 4th place and thePony Express was taken also by Gunnison Teams with 4th place going to Gunnison A Team with David Childs, Brad Bown, Sain Brown, and Perry and Brent Sorenson, and5th place going to Gunnison B Team with Jim Sabey, Reed Knudsen, John Roper, Randy Pickett, and Lu Knudsen. Gunnison also did very well in the Trailer Race with Brad Bown and David Childs taking Jst place and John and Jan Roper taking 5th place. Saturday morning started with the judged events. Placing in Ladies Pleasure were Bunny Sabey, Gunnison with 3rd place; Phyllis Torgcrson, Salina taking 5th also of place, and Vivian Baker 6th Salim taking place. Pairs pleasure winners were SorenBunny Sabey and Mcrri Lynn Elsie 4 and th son of Gunnison Liking takMerchant Paula Anderson and 5lh place. ing In the Parade and Drill events Salina took 1st in the Parade with Gunnison taking 3rd. In the Drill Salina also took 1st place with Gunnison taking 2nd. The Ribbon Pull winner from our area was Maylcn Mickelsen and Gordon Johnson of the Redmond Riding Club taking 5th. Calf Roping was Liken by Joh Roper of Gunnison taking 1st place with the fastest time. Dally Team roping winners were Shyrcl Baker and Conrad Miller of Salina Liking 3rd and David Childs and Brent Sorenson of Gunnison taking 5th. The last event was Wild Cow Milking and the only ones placing from our area was Shyrel Baker and Conrad Miller taking 4th place. Everyone who placed in any event in Fillmore will be competing in Price at the S tate Meet on September 9th and 10th. We wish all these teams the best ofluck at State and are pleased they arc representing our area. Sevier County fair, received $25 ,000 for their champion animals. Maria Bagley, of Monroe, sold her grand champion market hog for $2.29 per pound, for a total of $556.47. The animal weighed 243 pounds and was purchased by Richfield Auction Co. T.J. Reese, of Loa, sold his grand champion market beef to Venice Feed for a total of $ 1 ,28 1 .86. Mike Lunt, Monroe, sold his 125 pound grand champion market lamb to Valley central Bank, Richfield, for $2.21 per pound. Rebecca Johnson, Aurora, sold her reserve champion market beef to Zions First National Bank, Salina, who paid $1,112.80 for the 1070 pound animal. Tim Lunts reserve champion market lamb sold for $ 198, while the reserve champion market hog, show by Jamie Brewer, Glenwood, sold for $315.90 to Sevier Valley Pack. Other top prize winners included the grandchampion dairy cow exhibited by David Pratt, Gunnison; reserve champion dairy cow, Ryan Carter; grand champion and reserve champion dairy goats, marie Mayer, Redmond. Grand champion breeding ewe, mutton breed, Richard Harris, Venice; grand champion breeding ewe, wool breed, and grand champion ram, button breed, Richard Harris; Nanette Dcspain, Axtell, reserve champion breed ram, button breed; Richard Harris also took the grand champion breeding ram, wool breed.
