Show UTE INDIAN ' STOCKMEN BUY STOCK Election of Officers and Set Up New By Laws To Govern Association for 1945. 145 Indian stockmen of the Ute Tribe met in 3 meetings at Whiterocks, Ouray and Myton on February 8, 9, and 10th to hold their annual meetings and banquets, to reorganize and to plan their activities for the coming com-ing year. Each association adopted a new set of constitution and bylaws, by-laws, elected new officers, arranged ar-ranged for loans from the Revolving Re-volving Credit funds to purchase bulls and laid plans for operation opera-tion on their respective ranges. They will buy over 90 purebred pure-bred Hereford bulls for the use in their herds. Half of these bulls will be bought from Association Associa-tion funds and the rest will be bought from Revolving Credit funds. Three sets of books have been set up and an annual audit of all accounts will be carried out. Plans are made for large enough assessments to retire the loans and to set aside operating op-erating reserves. Range Supervisor Krause, Range Guards Curry, Jenks and Appah met with the associations and discussed range problems and plans with the members. Allocation of ranges, the past season use and future plans were laid before the association . and discussed by the members. Extension Agent Nevins, Farm Agent Phillips at White-rocks, White-rocks, and Farm Agent at Myton My-ton and Ouray assisted in drawing draw-ing up the papers and in the reorganization. Discussion was thorough and agreement was almost unanimous. The officers of the Whiterocks Indian Livestock; Cooperative Association to serve in 1945 are: President, Daniel Cuch; Vice-President, Vice-President, Chalmers Wash; secretary and treasurer, "Lorena Iorg; Directors Conner Cha-j Cha-j poose, Andrew Frank, Henry-Harris, Henry-Harris, James Shavanaugh and Oran Curry. They will serve for one year and will direct the movement of the 2800 head of cattle owned by the members. The officers elected on February Feb-ruary 9th for the Ouray Livestock Live-stock Association to act in 1945 were: President, David Serowap; Vice-President, Jack Santio; secretary and treasurer, Milton Jenkens; Directors Bart Wana, Charles McKawan, Wesley Wyasket. The Ouray Association Associat-ion members will run over 2200 head of cattle on their ranges and these men will be entrusted with the task of directing their destiny for the coming year. The Myton Indian Livestock Association reorganized on February 10th and elected the following officers: President, Alberto Cesspooch; Vice-Pres ident, Robert Colorow; See. retary-Treasurc, Frances Alleni Allred; Directors Ed Conetah, Eugene Perank, Clara Rochel. These Indians own and run about 500 head of cattle on their range. The ladies served dinners to each association at which over 200 persons were served. |
