Show Myton Mrs. Grace Dalgleish The American Legion and Auxiliary. Aux-iliary. Wm. R. Sands Post No. 5, held their regular meeting at the Barracks. Friday evening, with Commander Orval Gillen in charge of the Legion sessions and President Gladys Dennis in' charge of the Auxiliary, meeting. Special business was the election of officers for the 1948-1949 1948-1949 term. Wesley Brummett was elected to succeed Orval Gillen Gil-len as commander. Other officers offi-cers are: Blaine Brolcaw, 1st vice commander; George Wedig'. 2nd vice commander; Giles Wood, adjutant ad-jutant and finance officer; Howard Ho-ward Dennis, chaplain; George Dodge, sergant-at-arms and service ser-vice officer; Orval Gillen, historian. histor-ian. I Officers elected by the Auxiliary Auxil-iary were: Grace Dalgleish, president; pres-ident; Josephine Yergenscn, 1st vice president; Alice Brummett. 2nd vice president; Odie Hemp-, hill, secretary-treasurer; Jennie Tuttle, chaplain; Sarah Nielson, crgeant-at-arms; Phyllis Wood, .istorian; Gladys Harris, welfare hairman. A delicious lunch was erved to about 35 members at .he close of the meeting. A quilt which was raffled to raise funds to send Joan Gingell to "Girls' State" was raffled after af-ter the meeting, the lucky number num-ber being held by Hale Holgate, of Arcadia. Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Thome and children returned Thursday from a 10-day vacation trip to Twin Falls, Idaho and Yellowstone National Na-tional Park. They visited with relatives at Pleasant Grove as they returned. Mr. and Mrs. Farrcll Purccll were weekend visitors at the home of Mrs. Purcell's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Thomas. The young couple were enroute from Las Vegas, Nevada, where they spent their honeymoon. Thev will make their home in Price, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Krcbs were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Harris, arriving Friday to attend the election meetings of the American Legion Leg-ion and Auxiliary. They returned return-ed Sunday to their home in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Ernest Wilson, of Duchesne, Du-chesne, .was a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Partridge, Part-ridge, Saturday. Mrs. Lawrence Bywater was rushed to the hospital at Roose velt, Thursday, to undergo an emergency appendectomy. She is getting along nicely. Mrs. Homer Petersen and S small daughters arrived Friday from Salt Lake City to visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Lamb. , J. F. Wilson returned Sunday from Ogden. He reports his wife is now convalescing at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Lloyd DuBois, following art operation June 3rd at an Ogden hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Elton Quick and small son, of Salt Lake City, are visiting at the home of Mrs. Quick's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emery Nielson. Fritz Schlcinitz returned to Myton last week, after spending a month at the Smith ranch in Deep Creek. - Mrs. M, C. Sutton and young son arrived last week from Seattle, Wash, to visit with her sisters, the Misses Josephine and Gladys Hunt. She will help care for Gladys, who has been ill for several months. Neil Murray, who has been attending the University of Utah, returned home Thursday to spend the summer with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Murray. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Low and children, Ted Miles and son Dar-rell, Dar-rell, Mrs. Harold Kienly, and Mrs. Willis Zirker left Sunday for their homes in rhoenix, Ariz., Pasadena, Calif., and San Diego, Calif. They were called here by the illness and death of their, father, Wm. R. Forsythe. Mrs. Miles remained to be with her mother for a few weeks. Mrs. Myra Philipps arrived Saturday from New York City to visit her father, A. M. Todd; her sister, Miss Alice Todd, and her brother, Fred Todd and family. fam-ily. John L. Johnson left Monday for Preston, Idaho to visit his brother. Mr. and Mrs. Felix Qumtana and daughter, Elnora, left Monday Mon-day night for Saguache, Colo., called there by the sudden death of Mr. Quintana's brother, Ka-mon, Ka-mon, who died Sunday night. Mrs. Olga Solomonson is con-fined con-fined to the hospital at Roosevelt, Roose-velt, awaiting a tonsilectomy, Mr. and Mrs. Elton Quick and son, and Mrs. M. C. Adams and children enjoyed a trip to Range-ly, Range-ly, Colo, and vicinity, Sunday, to visit with Mr. Adams, who is employed there. Mrs. Albert Oldham and two children and her mother, Mrs. Van Dyke, who has been visiting here, left Monday for a visit in Ogden. Baseball fans accompanied the baseball team to Neola Sunday to enjoy a very close game, with the final score 8 to 7 in favor of Myton. Among the out of town relatives rela-tives and friends who attended the funeral of William R. Forsythe For-sythe were a sister of the deceased, de-ceased, Mrs. Eric Torgerson, and her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. D. Torgcrson, of Lyman, Ly-man, Utah; a nephew, Charles Forsythe, and Mrs. Mary Hisky, of Teasdale, Utah; and Mrs. Lester Les-ter Whittet, of Salt Lake City. Mrs. David Allen and daughter, daugh-ter, LeAnna, came from Teas-dale Teas-dale to be present at the William R. Forsythe funeral. Mrs. Allen remained to visit with relatives near Myton and with Mrs. Forsythe. For-sythe. Lc-Anna left Saturday for Provo to spend a short time with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Zorko and children arrived Saturday .from Ely, Nevada to spend the weekend with their parents, Mr, and Mrs. Matt UreskSr., and Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Dart, Sr. The children remained for a longer visit while Mr. and Mrs. Zorko returned home Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Orvillc Dart and two children are visiting at the home of Mr. Dart's parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Dart. Mr. and Mrs. Giles Wood and two sons returned Monday evening eve-ning from a two-weeks' vacation trip to Oregon and California. Betty Roth, of Vernal, who has been a visitor at the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs; Wm. Koehler, left Sunday, ac-companing ac-companing her father. George Roth, on a trip to California, where they will join Mrs. Roth and bring her home. - Mrs. Darrell Dean left Sunday for Salt Lake City to be with her husband who is confined to the Veterans hospital. She will visit her son, James O. Dean, while there. |
