All these happy little magic creatures with the strange sounding names live, work and play In Squnch Valley, located near Park Citys Treasure Mountains. You never heard of Squnch Valley? And never heard of squnch, 'squad, squlrnr' or squoet? Well, pay attention ... youve missed a delightful ex perlence. A squnch Is an elfish childlike creature. A squad Is a soft muddy glub who lives In mud puddles. This fellow can change Into different things. An extremely tallvbut very thin being Is the squirm ... he turns Into vowels. Arch enemy of the squirm Is the vowel devourer ... hes the monster of Squnch Valley. You wont see a squoet In Squnch Valley, because hes Invisible. His main duty Is to plant poet trees. All these fun creatures plus the many wonders of this magic nation can all be seen jthrough the magic eye. Heres how It works. Take magic nation ... any magic nation ... add an 1 ... take out the c ... and you have the secret of Squnch Valley ... IMAGINATION. Imagination Is the key ingredient of the unique Squnch House, the childrens activity center at Treasure Mountains, Park Tr ' r City. Operated by Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Morse, this recreational and cultural drop-l- n uses center1 the casual to for caring approach children of busy mothers. Its creative program is designed to develop childrens Imagination. Staffers include Mrs. Judy S. West, assistant director and crafts Instructor, and Mrs. Carol Hurich, creative art f instructor. OF SQUNCH VALLEY Youngsters visiting the unique Squnch House In Park City look over a picture of Squnch Valley. Magic creatures Inhabiting the valley Include the squnch, squad, squirm and squoet. VIEW a The center provides care and fun for children from six months to 12 years of age on an hourly basis. Squnch Valley stories with all the magic creatures, plus art, drama and outdoor activities are all woven dancing, an unparalled program that puts the accent on the Individual child. Still growing, Squnch House for the present is not on full speed squnchlng. for r, and six months up, youngsters will be available only on weekends from 9 A.M. to 9 PiM with a maximum time of four hours per child. This special program is aimed to give parents free evening time for dinner and adult activities. An enlarged sleep squove and an unusual outdoor play area provide rest or fun for young tots. A creative arts .and recreation program for four to eight to 12 year olds Is held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. for a two week session. These sessions Include hikes, visits to mines, stories of the Old as well as Squnch Days, stories, painting, drawing, drama and dancing. Box lunches, cook-o- ut suppers, tea paroles ponycart trips and gondola rides are also part of the fun for the young set. Squnch menu Items make eating fun for the kids and Include aigelcop leg, squnch-burger- s, h (hamburgers,) platter with moon man (23 sandwich and hard boiled Into Squnching-by-the-hou- egg) Squog Wog (hot dog) or Squoop Soop (cup of soup, one' sandwich). Wandering squnches - wilderness trips for boys 13 to 18 will be hitting the trail In Idaho, Wyoming and Canada this summer. Three trips are scheduled starting July 6. A canoeing and back packing journeys are conducted by Mr. Morse and Gordon West, ass sand-witc- two-we- ek lstant ski school director at Park City. Before heading Into the woods, boys are coached and trained In camping skills. For Instance, If a boy never has been canoeing, he . will be trained to man a boat before making the trip. Trips are limited to a maximum of 15 boys. ' experiment In dancing for pleasure and relaxation Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 A.M. to 1 PM. It is not a dance course but designed to appeal to any woman, regardless of age or f previous dance experience. Later in the summer when squnchlng is In full swing, an outdoor recreation program will be held by Mr. Motse. Even Mom can be a Squnch! Barbara Morse conducts an the school In three months. Future plans for Squnch House Include overnight facilities for children, so mom and dad can go for a two or three day vacation. If you are near Park City ...drop by the Squnch House. Morse was Mr. superintendent of Parks and Ljlecratlon In Wilton, for two years. Mrs. Morse gave the Squnch House idea a try oqasmall scale In her home in Colorado before moving to Salt Lake this year. During this past winter, Mr. Morse held a childrens ski school at Treasure Mountains.
