Lou Ellen McNeil was born Nov. 28, 1880, at Champion, North Carolina and died Monday, June 5, 1933, following an operation in the Holy Cross Hospital at Salt Lake, where she. had only been a short time. She was married in their home town May 13, 1909 to G. H. Profiit and to this union one son and one daughter was born, Blanche Proftit-Orrel- l and Thomas Proffit, wiho with the bereaved husband survive; also six brothers and five sisters are left to mourn one brother being Albert S. McNeil of Evanston, who is associated with Hansen in the sheep business. The Proffit family came to Evanston fourteen years ago and have been successful in the merchandising business, now having stores at Evanston and Urie, Wyoming, and Coalville, Utah, in which enterprises the deceased had been a faithful worker and of great assistance at all times. She was highly respected and esteemed by those who knew her; being a devoted wife and loving mother, whose unexpected and sudden demise is mourned by all. Before her marriage, and for two years afterward, she taught school in several localities. Mrs. Proffits remains were brought to Evanston from Salt Lake in the Durnford & Son ambulance, being prepared at their mortuary for burial, and Tuesday evening taken to the family home on South Main street, there remaining until 3 p. m. yesterday when advance services were conducted at the Baptist church, Rev. After the service, the body lay s'ate at the church until 9:55 p. when they were forwarded on IT. Train No. 8 to Champion, her old home, for final funeral services and interment, being accompanied hy the husband and other memlbers of the grief stricken family, who will remain there for two weeks, during which time the three Proffit stores at Evanston.
