Show Rich County FAR and RODEO Sept. 14th 15th An Independent Newspaper Devoted To The Interests Ot The People Of Rich County and Lower Bear River Valley Volume 10 Number 34 Randolph, Utah. Friday August 27, MISSIONARY WRITES Rich County Schools Honoring FurTraders On Monday, September 6, some five hundred Rich County children will beschool year. Of this gin the 1937-3number approximately three hundred seventy will be in the first eight grades of school and the remaining number will be in the two high schools, I or the interest and benefit of those parents who have children beginning school for the first time, it may be noted that those children who will have reached the age of six years on or before October 31, 1937, will be admitted to the first grade. This is in accordance with (he rule passed by the board of educa tion in 1930. Present plans call for the attendance of pupils at school only during the afternoon of the first day, September 6. The morning of the day will be devoted to teachers meetings in the vaiious schools under the directions of the principals of the schools. The returning and new pupils will find a number of new conditions in the physical plants of the district for the coming year. All buildings will be thoroughly cleaned as has been done each year, but in addition to this much new painting will have been done In the Laketown and Garden Citv buildings gloss interior paints are being applied to the woodwork and the lower portions of the walls to provide a new washable surface which should go far toward cutting maintenance costs from year to year. These finishes have already proved their practicability over a four year period at South Rich High School. The walls and woodwork at South Rich are also receiving a new coat of paint for the first time In four years. At Woodruff plans are going forward for the installation of toilets and other facilities to bring the building more nearly up to date. In nt least one class room the present cracked plaster on the ceiling is to be removed and replaced by a new ceiling. General cleaning will be carried on throughout the building. Another im provement which should be of special Interest to the people of Woodruff, is the purchase of a new, modern bus, to replace the one formerly in service between Woodruff and Randolph. Upon its arrival from the factory the bus is expected to be equipped with an efficient heating system which will do much toward making travel to and from high school more comfortable than heretofore. Of particular interest to the two comunities in the north end of the county should he the new shop build ing being erected at North Rich High School. In general, this building is being 'patterned after the one constructed at South Rich last year which has proved to be very satisfactory. This will allow the housing of the industrial arts woik at Xorth Rich on the school grounds near the other class rooms and will replace the former arrangement of using a room in the bae ment of the ward amusement hall. With this better arrangement, a more favorable outlook is in view for this vocational work. With these rather extensive improvements added to those which have been made in the past, the physical plants of the district will be in good condi tion for the coming school year and we are looking forward to a more pleasant and comfortable school year. 8 COURT NEWS ' Judge Lewis Jones of Brigham, court reporter, Farrell Johnson, of Logan, attended county court Wednesday, Aug. 25th.
