Spence Retained as North Rich J.P. the ordinance in Rich County that stating specific elected officials must be bonded, the commission approved the purchase of a schedule bond covering seven elected county employees and the three county commissioners. Members also approved two individual bonds covering the deputy treasurer and the deputy assessor. The cost of the smaller bonds begins at $30. The largest bonds purchased cost $160. The bonds range in coverage from $113,000 to $5,000. The two individuals needing more expensive bonds are the sheriff and the assessor. A county ordinance provides for the purchasing of bonds to protect the public in the event of wrongdoing or mistakes made by county employees. Sheriff Gary Ogilvie requested that a public budget hearing be held to open the liquor law enforcement fund and to change the amount from $900 to $10,895. The sheriff requested that commissioners set guidelines on how the money will be used. Ogilvie stated that in his opinion, public education would be a wise investment. They also asked that surplus budget money from the ambulance budget be put into a dedicated fund to save for future ambulances.
