Show FEBRUARY 10, 1987 L, Dixie lists top students CHS Falcon Forum By CHAD McBRIDE They are the same students who head clubs, organizations, and lead the students at the class and student body levels. They are the drama people and the choralists. They do not sit idely by and read from Plato and let the basketball teams go unsupported. No, in fact they are most often the most boisterous fans. They have learned to prioritize and to discipline themselves so that they can get it all done. They are the commendable ones worth all of our congratulations and heart filled admiration. The honor students are among the finest people I know. I have worked personally with them through the Honor Society. They are trustworthy, gracious, and always cheerful. They possess the creativity and industriousness to better the status quo. Their self motivation is a blessing to the teacher who must manage 30 or more students at one time. Their drive and diligence cannot be exceeded. I know when I am in need of some assistance I can call on any member of the honor society for help. My sincere appreciation and endeared respect goes out to all honor students. It is my hope and wish that they can gain back from the world that which they have so generously contributed. extra-curricul- Samuel Johnson once said To talk in public, to think in solitude, to read, to write, to inquire and to answer inquiries that is the business of a scholar, These profound words sum up my feelings toward some very unique people in my school. They are the examples of what a student should be. They portray the discipline, honor, and fortitude of the up and coming generation of Americans. I am speaking of course of the honor roll students. You see their names in the paper after the completion of every term. They are a blur as you search frantically for the name of your son or daughter. They are often ignored and set aside for some of the more negative aspects of the school system, but they are indeed the focus of the school systems intent. To earn a position on the honor roll you must have a grade point average of 3.6 and must have five classes which you can get a grade from. This is no simple task. If you consider eight classes of homework every two days then that quickly adds up to quite a few hours. The students who do earn the right to be recognized as honor roll students are not usually those who have time just for studying. DHS Dartboard By SONYA SILL The Dixie College fall quarter honor roll has been announced by Dr. Peter Nyberg, vice president of academics. According to Nyberg, six students from Davis County earned recognition.
