Show PROVO (UTAH) SUNDAY HERALD, SUNDAY, APRIL 11, 1943 PAGE FIVE Symphony Orchestra Concert Tonight In Honor of Men in the Armed Forces Presenting as guest star, Mr. Frederic Dixon, one of America's foremost pianists, the Brighara Young University Symphony orchestra, or-chestra, directed by LeRoy J. Robertson, will appear in a Sunday Sun-day evening1 concert, April 11, at : p. m. in the Joseph, Smith fglturilding, honoring members of the BYU faculty and student body in the armed forces. Because of previous perfor-f perfor-f romances here, Provo audiences are well acquained with Mr. Dixon Dix-on who formerly played the Rachmaninoff Rach-maninoff Concerto with the Min- neapolis Symphony Orchestra. At the coming concert ho will play, accompanied by the orchestra, orches-tra, Rachmaninoff's Concerto No. 2 in C Minor. Three alumi members of the orchestra or-chestra will return to play Mr. Robertson informs. They are Dearwyn Sardoni SundwalL, Max .Butler and Donald Olsen, all violinists. vio-linists. Nin of the orchestra personnel person-nel will leave April 12 with the Army Reserve Unit. They are Dale Johnson, Eugene Faux, Dean Carlos Luritzen, Dwight Freeman, Adrian Thomas, Sterling Stott, Dick Ballou, Norman VV. Hunt, and Richard Shuck. Three former members left last week with the Air Corps Reserve. Re-serve. They are: Kay Morris, Robert Rob-ert W. Evans and W. Gene Hull. Deaths ' Stephen Higginson SPANISH FORK Stephen M. Higginson, life-long resident" of Spanish Fork died at 1:30 a. m. Saturday at the home of his sister, sis-ter, Mrs. A'.vin Keele of Spanish Fork. lie had been ill only a short time. Mr. Higginson was bofn March 9, 1S85 at Spanish Fork, son of James G. and Electa Coltrin Higginson. Hig-ginson. Surviving are two brothers and two sisters, Grahn and Elmer Higginson cf Ogden, Utah, and Mrs. David G. Simmons and Mrs. Alvin Keele of Spanish Fork. Also surviving are four half-brothers and sisters, George Higginson, Spanish Fork; John Higginson, Sunnyside; Miss Eva Higginson and Mrs. Grace Neiling of Spanish Span-ish Fork. Funeral services will be held Monday noon at the Spanish Fork First ward chapel under the direction di-rection of Bishop R .H. Nelson. Burial will be in the Spanish Fork cemetery' under the direction of the A. Y. Wheeler and Sons mortuary. Doctors Conclude War-Time Parley SALT LAKE CITY, April 10 U.P Medical personnel from Utah and Idaho Were returning to their homes today following a one-day wartime session held here yesterday which included discussions discus-sions of new developments in medical science which has advanc-sharply advanc-sharply during the war. Lieut. Col. Olin B. Chamberlain late yesterday discussed "Psy-choncuroses "Psy-choncuroses of War" and suggested suggest-ed a trial or probationary period for draftees in wliich soldiers who may be maladjusted or unfitted for service may be weeded out. Chamberlain said a period of two or three months would be sufficient to determine the "inadequacies" "inade-quacies" of nervous systems and psychoneuroses. At the session army authorities also suggested that units of 15 physicians be established throughout through-out the region to be prepared for passible war emergencies. It was emphasized also that all doctors should be ready to treat gas victims. vic-tims. Hospitals were commended for their cooperative efforts and adaption adap-tion to war needs and Dr. Malcolm Mal-colm T. MacEachern of Chicago, associate director of the American College of Surgeons, said "continued "con-tinued cooperation within the hospitals hos-pitals will lead to solution of the myriad problems yet to be met by hospitals." Ward -to Hoiior tdy Missionary LB Emily Murdock Funeral services for Mrs. Emily Van Wagenen Murdock, wife of David S. Murdock, were held in the Fourth ward chapel with Bishop Victor J. Bird in charge. Dean Murdock was at the organ to play the prelude and postlude, and opening prayer was offered by A. L. Booth. Remarks were made by John Van Wagenen and Pres. R. J. Murdock, and Mrs. Nola Nilsson sang, accompanied by Mrs. Murdock. A duet was Van Wagenen Funeral Monday Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Bronson Van Wagenen, wife of Edwin Van Wagenen of 157 North Third West, who died early Friday Fri-day morning, will be conducted Monday at 1:30 p. m. in the Third LDS ward chapel with Bishop Arthur D. Beehive Swarm Day Set Tuesday AMERICAN FORK Next Tuesday Tues-day evening the annual Pee Hive Swarm day and graduation exercises ex-ercises of Alpine stake will be he?.d. Stake Bee Keeper Jennie Wilde will be in charge. The exercises will be held in the Alpine Al-pine stake tabernacle, commencing commenc-ing at 8 o'clock, with the mothers of the 155 Bee Hive girls of the stake as guests. Marine corps and is now on duty at the base in San Diego, Calif., undergoing preliminary training, according to word from the Marine corps office in Salt Lake City. CRASH AMERICAN FORK Curtis "Ed" Thompson, of American Fork, a. soldier of the U. S. army home on furlough, suffered a fractured frac-tured skull and fractured wrist when the automobile in which he was riding struck t Utility pole Friday at 10:15 p. m near American Amer-ican Fork. He was taken to thf American Fork hospital and later removed to the hospital at Fort Douglas. His condition was reported as "fair." Also injured in the crash was Basil Keel, 31, of Lehi, the driver, who was released from the hospital hos-pital after receiving treatment. According to Office - Gilbert Shumway, who investigated. Keel was driving from Lehi to American Amer-ican Fork when he. become confused con-fused as to the right road at the curve west of American Fork. The car went outof control and crashed into a telephone pole.
