CRERY DEALERS ARE ,) ALREADY CLAMORING ; FOR GREATER ACREAGE Earl Anderson of the Anderson Produce company, of Brigham City advises that barrels of money can be made in this vicinity growing celery for the market that there is for Uth celery, says the Box Elder News. Even California, where an abundance of celery is produced, is calling for Utah celery. The eastern markets will buy no other If it can be had. No better celery can be produced In any country than right here in Box Elder county. The market is as sur$ as the market for sugar beets. Then why not grow celery? Here is the Mr. An derson is readyproposition: to enter into a contract to buy all the the growers ,can produce. Incelery all probability other dealers in the will do the same thing as there city is,, a ready market for the product. Mr. Anderson advises that he has secured a quantity of the same kind of seed that has produced the celery that has made Utah celery famous. Floyd Knudsen has been growing celery the past few years and has made a success of the business. Floyd advises that he Intends to plant eight or ten acres to celery this year and expects to get any where from $500 to $1000 per acre for his work. He advises too, that he will be glad to explain the methods to be adopted in the growing of. celery to those who are interested. ' There is a certain method to follow in planting and cultivating in order to keep the celery free from rust. Last season Mr. Knudsen had acre planted to celery and for a few weeks supplied the local market with small bunches of crisp, tender celery you all know what it was and you were all disappointed when the supply was gone. According to Mr. Knudsen one acre will produce 1000 dozen bunches of celery. When properly cared for it is not impossible, he said, to make bring the grower $1000. Fifty jthis acres will produce 30 or 35 carloads of celery. Mr. Anderson stated that he will guarantee to buy all the celery that can be produced here, and at a price that will make it profitable to the grower. If enough acreage is planted this spring he intedns to install the necessary equipment to trim, wash and pack the celery ready for the market. Why not call a celery meeting and thresh this matter out? There is plenty of land available. A few acres, or even one acre, properly looked after, will produce a lot of ready cash for the individual willing f . . ;i: r From lumber manufacturing: centers that the demands for lumber this year will exceed that of any previous year in our country's history.
