Show .A Ilorrihlo Tragedy, A horrible shooting affray occurred in the Rroom Hotel bar at Ogden, owned by C. S. Cave, at 7:55 yesterday morning. M. Dillon, a gambler and an all around tough from Rawlins, Wyo., has been in the city for several days past. About 3 o'clock he, accompanied j by others, went to the Broom Hotel bar to fill their stomachs with more lighting whisky, When they entered the bar was in charge of Carl Christiansen, Christi-ansen, the porter. Soon after George M. Mitchell, barkeeper on the morning shift, entered. When ne began duty Dillon called for a bottle of wane, which was given him. Mitchell was asked to drink with them but he declined, stating stat-ing that he had just got up from a sick spell and that he had but returned from break,ast, besides that he did not take anything very often. With that kind of au answer Dillou became quite angry and fired his revolver at Mitehe,'! who was near the north end of the bar. He tired three shots in all. Only one of thejii took effect, ef-fect, but it proved fatal and Mr, Mitchell exnired a few minutes after S o'clock. Officer Hansen, who happened hap-pened to be nearby at the time, heard the shots and arrested Dillon, who was landed behind the bars ijij.he city jail. |
