Lund $1.50 PER YEAR - - mm Eafrlle of Arm&sffidldbiiii Is Heire Now m THE NEXT NINE YEAItS An Analysis and a Prophecy by Winy Anderson First Printing, July 1938 A critical examination of the many schools of Biblical prophecy discloses several salient predictions upon which they all agree. We find the following prophecies have been ful-filled or are today being fulfilled. 1 Preaching of the Christian Religion All Over the World. The Christian Bible is today the world's best seller (although few read it). Christian proselyting is world-wid- e with missions in every country. Jehovah's Witnesses, the Mormon 'Church, Christian Science, are but three with world-wid- e activities. The New York Bible Society was founded 128 years ago to pubilsh and distribute the Old and New Testaments. Starting with a handful of Bibles, their activities had grown until in 1937, they distributed 844,158 Bibles, in 83 languages. 2 Breakdown of Religion. While certain sects are active in world-wid- e spread of the Cospel, nations that have been dominated by the Christian Church for centuries are casting it out. Organized religion in the form of the long established church has been driven underground in Russia, Mexico, Spain and France and Hitler has had considerable friction with the Vatican. The Brahman, Buddist and Mohammedan peoples are rebelling against their churches and casting aside the religions which have ruled them for centuries. 3 Full Liberty Given to Satan. (Self). Not only is selfishness a dominant emotion in most people today, but it rules entire nations. In a mad attempt to gain the earth and all that is in it for self, the nations have raised tariff barriers which have destroyed trade, financial walls which have stopped the export of money, and caused wars of aggression in Ethiopia, Spain and China. 4 Wars and Rumors of Wars. Humanity was brought to realize that war was a chronic world condition in 1914 when twenty-nin- e nations took up arms against 4 other nations. Although an Armistice was signed in 1918, war has never ceased, and minor conflicts have occur-red throughout the world. The battle of Armageddon has started. It 'is not in the' future but NOW. It started "irTtheT West when Italy move'd into Ethiopia in 1 934, in the East when Japan moved onto the continent of Asia. It will wage with in-creasing fury until all nations are engaged in a 'battle royal' and 'such time never was or will be again.' Drift Of World Events The Scriptures indicate that the coming Ueast will be an international ru er. "And power was given him over all kind-reds, and tongues, and nations." (Rev. 13:7) He will rule with absolute soverignty over a world empire. His power will be unlimited for at least three and one-ha- lf years. The time is coming when he will demand and receive worship. From The Defender. YE OLDE OPEN FORUM The Saturday Evening Open Forum will discuss Present Problems of Economics and Finance at a public meeting in the City and County Building at 7:30 . Mr. T. LUN D Men's Plans and the Master Plan While we have been publishing this paper we have read and considered upwards of a hundred economic plansor saving the people and the nations. Some have been common and impossible; some have been very good; all have made extrava-gant promises, some of which might be fulfilled, but many which never could be fulfilled But to find the master plan with all the promises absolutely sure of fulfillment we have to turn to the Old Book. There it is, within the lids of the Bible, with promises as sure as the light of the sun. And here are some of the promises: There shall be none to hurt or to destroy, or to make af-raid. The hands of the weak shall be strengthened and the knees of the feeble shall be confirmed. Those of a fearful heart shall be free from fear and be strong. People shall build houses and inhabit them, plant vineyards and eat the fruit thereof. They shall not build and another inhabit. They shall not plant and another eat. All shall enjoy the work of their hands and none shall labor in vain nor bring forth trouble. Swords shall be beaten into plowshares and spears into pruning hooks, and nations shall not learn war any more. Every man shall sit under his own vine and fig tree. They shall hold all the resources of nature in common and every man shall receive according to his need and abundant life shall be free to all Earth shall be babtized in a new paradisical glory. .... s. KING BOOSTS FOR GOGGIN Wm (Bill) King, custodian at the City & County Bldg. one of the most generous frieDds this paper has, was in the other day and preached a sermon about Commissioner P. H. (PAT) Goggin, and arranged for publishing what he said ''Mr, Goggiu a very real tumanjaeing with aJieart as big as a wagon wheel. His deeds of charity are numerous and he has done much for the unfortunate brother. Besides helping widows and orphans he has kept young men in school while they were in need of help. The play equipment he has had installed at the City and County building has won him the hearts of hundreds of children. As a real Christian he stands high." A Stiange Editorial, But Its Tim to Face Truth It is true that Jesus was and is the Prince of Peace. But jii the winding up scene, when the tide must be turned in the last great battle, He shall come and lead the Israel people to victory in actual warfare. He shall come to take a last stand and win the victory for truth and justice. He is not the pasi-fi- st some believe him to be Read about it in John's Reve-lation and in Isaiah. The present conflict is to prepare the way for the coming of the Prince of Peace, and to have a part in it is to stand with Him for trutht and justice in the only way humanitv will let them come. To fight against the way and manner chosen by Destiny to usher in His reign of peace and brotherhood is an attempt to close the mouths of all the ancient prophets. War is terrible and worse than any hell could be, but it is the only way that world rulers and their followers will let the world be cleansed and the way prepared for His comi ig and His reign. How can any ruler or leader command peace when it has been declared that Peace has bi en taken from th earth and the great Ruler's decree that He has set out to make a sure end of all nations the system? .... --vt.- .... SERMONETTE The present situation was caused by a deep seated mala-dy of willful forgctfulness of God. Slums, crime, vice and war arc here not because man is depraved We were fooled inlo neglecting the Golden Rule and the worship of God.... Religious indifference and moral deterioration have corroded o ir sense of beauty, mocked our ideals, depleted our hopes, softener! our fiber and robbed us of our high honors. Van has wooed and won a world but has fallen veary. Moses did not stop at Mount Sinai; he turned to the Promised Land. We too are young, as a country and in the spirit of youth. We can face the future with hope, for the pioneer days of man-kind do not rest in the past and hatred and fear will be van-- i quished to build a better world. Rev. Dr. Teunis E. Gouwens. You can't possibly build a foundation for peace out of maligniint hearts and malevolent tongues Had Christ tried to do it that way His mission would have failed utterly. |
