Show Thespian Group Is Organized The first meeting or the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove High School Thespian Society Troupe was held Wednesday, Wednes-day, January 7, during which election el-ection of officers was held and meeting times were determined. Officers for the school year ending end-ing May, 1953 are as follows: Ilene Judd, president: Jeannine Pack, vice-president: Jane Iver-son. Iver-son. secretary; Barbara Nelson, treasurer. Mrs. G-errie Bills is troupe sponsor. Regular business meetings of the Thespian Troupe will be held every Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Next meeting will be held on Jan. 1-1- Applications for membership to the Thespian Troupe are still open op-en and will remain open until noon Monday, January 12. In order to become a Thespian, the applicant must first have at least ten Thespian Thes-pian points, which are awarded for dramatic achievements by the troupe sponsor. The National Thespian Society is an organization devoted to the advancement of Dramatic Arts in secondary schools. Its aims are to establish and advance standards of excellence in all phases of dramatic dra-matic arts and to create an active and intelligent interest in dramatic dra-matic arts among boys and girls in the high schools. In June, 1951, the total membership mem-bership of the Society was estimated estim-ated at 15,000 with troupes in the 48 states, Panama, Alaska, Hawaii, Ha-waii, Canada, District of Columbia and Japan. |
