Show On The Bulletin Board Vivian Seastrand, Reporter It seems the "Institute" vacation brought back some of the summer slump. Even though the football team beat Lehi 27-7, Thursday, in a game that was thrilling to watch, the pupils of dear old A. F. high just can't recover their former spirit or ambition. Must be because some can even now feel the hot sun beating upon their bent backs as they extract beets from mother earth; or perhaps they're imagining themselves jamming jam-ming a new shell into their rifles while the buck leaps from sight, and when the shell is finally in place to hear the report of several hundred other guns all over the mountainside, shooting at the same deer. Who said oud 'good' music students stu-dents graduated? Have you ever been going along the upper hall and heard the tantalizing harmonies issuing from the music room? Why the school has turned into a school of nightingales it seems. The plans for the Senior Hop, which is set for November 11, are materializing rapidly and we hope the Alumni will come out ten-fold to honor the Red and White and cooperate with us on this Alumni Day. The football' "team received a lengthy write-up in the Tribune, Monday. It seems we have a team worth boosting from the coach down to the skinniest 'sub'. Our subs played Mt. Pleasant 's main team Tuesday and made a good showing. The next football game will be November 4 at Provo. Then we play P. G. and after that on to the State Tournament! A school play is being chosen by our dramatic directors; so with the future appearing busy and full to the last minute, we are looking forward to a brilliant and interesting winter. Worthy of honorable mention is the fact that Mr. Holmstead's little wooden board has finally wandered home. (Heck, more assignments!). Now that the Seniors have finished finish-ed their course in "Personality" under un-der Miss Smoot's direction, we hope to see some real socialibility and cheerfulness shown toward the lower low-er classmen. Here's hooping you will all passe and can display a little of that fine education you have been receiving in the English room. You never can tell, maybe a Jane Adams, Will Rogers or Charlie McCarthy Mc-Carthy will develop from this fine group of Seniors. What do you think, Miss Smoot? |
