Curtis f f ) Sara Ellen Hatch Sarantinos West, 94, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 1988 at a daughter's home in Orem. She was born March 4, 1894, in Vernal to Josephus and Martha Luella Thomas Hatch. She married James J. Sarantinos on April 10, 1911, in Vernal. He died Feb. 22, 1920. She married Lawrence H. West Dec. 28, 1922. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died Nov. 27, 1951. She was an active member of the LDS Church, having served as a teacher, counselor and president of the Primary. She had also San Jose, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 27 - ; 16 great-grea- t- grand- - children; a brother and two sisters, Jesse I Hatch, Midvale; Erma H. Griffin, Provo; Veola ' H. Rasmussen, Santa Clara. She was pre-ceded in death by two step-son- Dewey Law-rence West and George Elwood West. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Grove 2nd Ward Chapel, 800 N. 100 West. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to service. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Alice Jane Hall Gaines Fullmer, 66, of Pleasant Grove, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 1988 following an auto ac-cident in Heber City. She was born Jan. 25, 1922 in Bountiful to George Wilford and Minnie Giles Hall. She married Samuel D. Gaines May 22, 1940 in Bountiful. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died April 8, 1960. She married Ferris E. Fullmer Sept. 2, 1960. She was an active member of the LDS CHurch, residing in the Pleasant Grove 4th Ward, where she served as a scout leader, a Primary teacher, secretary of the Sunday School and in many other capacities. Burial will be in the Lehi City Cemetery. Vern Luis Curtis, 75, f Lehi, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 1988 in Sandy of natural causes. He was born July 22, 1913 in Myton, son of Heber Albert and Mary Ann Andreson Curtis. He married Leah Vernice Barnhart Jan. 25, 1934 in Delta. He owned and operated Curtis's Garage in Lehi. He was a member of the LDS Church and served as a ward teacher. Survivors include his wife of Lehi; two sons and four daughters: Ronald J. Curtis, Heber Reed Curtis, Mrs. Scott (Andrea) Farnsworth, i yt -- o"" i f all of Lehi; Mrs. Kenneth (Deon) Lamb, Flagstaff, Ariz.; Mrs. Burke (Janae) Bristol, Yerington, Nev.; Mrs. Rex (Gaylene) Baxter, Mt. Judd Elroy Hogan "Nick" Nielson, 84, of Pleasant Grove, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 1988 at his home. He was born Sept. 17, 1903 in Pleasant Grove, to Hogan and Annie Erickson Nielson. He married Fern Radmall June 1, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a member of the LDS Church, living in the Pleasant Grove 11th Ward. He held the office of High Priest. He had worked as a foreman for Niels Fugal Construction Company. He attended schools in Pleasant Grove and lived there throughout his lifetime. He is survived by his wife, Pleasant Grove; one son and four daughters: Mrs. Ward (Beverly) McDonald, American Fork; Mrs. Mike (Karen) Nielsen, Sandy; Tim Nielson and Gayle Nielson, both Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Kent (Iris) Jarrett, South Jordan; 20 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Nielson, Pleasant Grove. Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 20, in the Pleasant Grove 11th Ward. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Martin Reed Clements, 17, of Pleasant Grove, died Monday, Aug. 15, 1988 at his home. He was born April 29, 1971 in Provo, to Bryce K. and Georgia Dee Heringer Clements. He was a member of the LDS Church, living in the Pleasant Grove 17th Ward. He was a student at Pleasant Grove High School. He enjoyed all sports, including water and snow skiing. Survivors include his parents of Pleasant Grove; two sisters and one brother : Colton Dan Clements, Lehi; Mrs. Dan (Cindy) Latimer, American Fork; Paula Kay Clements, Pleasant Grove; a grandmother: Edith Heringer, Provo. Funeral services were under the direc-tion of Bishop Dell Young of the Pleasant Grove Seventeenth Ward. Pallbearers were Casey Perry, Kelly Hardman, Carey Car-ter, Shaun Smith, Nyle Hamling, Robert An-derson and Mike Elli-ott. The family prayer was given by Reed F. Clements, an uncle and Joyce Francom played the prelude and postlude. David Cle-ments, an uncle, gave the invocation. Speakers were President Stan Albre-ch- t, Steve Francom, and Reed F. Clements, an uncle. The cousins sang "I Am A Child of God" and "I'm Not Alone". Remarks were given by Bishop Young. The benediction was by Dan Latimer, a brother-in-law- . Judd, 83, passed away at her home in Pleasant Grove Aug. 22, 1988 of natural causes. She was born Sept. 12, 1904 in Panguitch, to M.M. Steele, Jr. and Charlotte LeFevre Steele, one of 12 children. She married D. Ray Judd May 26, 1926 in the Manti LDS Temple. He died Dec. 23, 1957. They lived in Delta and Provo (Lake View) before moving to Pleasant Grove in 1942. She clerked in Clark's grocery store before starting work at the Utah State Training School in 1951. She was a building supervisor and president of the employees' union before retiring in 1969. She was a set-apa- rt I ' v . - I ' i - temple worker at Salt Lake and Provo and held various church positions during her full and active life. She is survived by her children: ffilga (CM.) Dr. Arthur McAllister Jared Kent Corbett Nielson Card of Thanks Jared Kent Corbett, son of Douglas Boyd and Lou Ann Walker Corbett, died Aug. 20, 1988 in American Fork of sudden infant death syndrome. " Sincerely, Fern and Gayle Nielsos Iris Jarrets Beverly McDonali Karen Nielsen Tim Nielson Carl E. 'Gene' Nelson Dr. Arthur James McAllister, M.D., 68, died Sunday, Aug. 2 1, in Salt Lake City. He was born Jan. 14, 1920, in Panguitch, Utah, a son of Arthur Dee and Elizabeth D. Hatch McAllister. He married Vilate Boley on June 11, 1942, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Raised in Panguitch and American Fork, he was an all-sta- te athlete at American Fork High School in basketball, football and track. He attended Utah State University and the Uni-versity ofUtah. At the U of U he set the confer-ence record in the high jump and was Utah Athlete of 1941. "Dr. Mac" was in the first four- - year medical school graduating class at the University of Utah and specialized in abdominal surgery. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Con-flict. He was in partner-ship with Dr. N.F. Hicken for over 20 years. Along with much research, he lectured at medical schools and medical societies throughout the country. He was a member of the Utah State Medical Association, Salt Lake Surgical Association, American College of Surgeons, Internat-ional College of Sur-geons, American Soci-ety of Abdominal Sur-geons, many of which he served in leadership capacities. He was af-filiated with Salt Lake City's LDS Hospital for over 40 years, where he served as Chief of Sur-gery. He was influential in establishing the intern-ship and residency programs between the University of Utah Medical School and local hospitals. Ateam doctor for the U of U athletic department, he was an ardent sup-porter of their athletic programs. For many years he was company doctor for I. M.L. Freight Lines, Grey-hound Bus Lines and the Newspaper Agency Corp. He enjoyed the hunting and fishing in the Hoback Basin and Pinedale (Wyoming) areas. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, ' Vilate, and their four children, Pat Jarman, Dee Ann Holbrook, Lisa Barnard and James B. McAllister; 10 grandchildren; six brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Lau-ren Jarman. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 24, at noon at the Larkin Chapel, 260 E. South Temple, where friends may call an hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery. Carl Eugene "Gene" Nelson, 78, died Wed-nesday, Aug. 17, 1988 at . Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City. He was born Dec. 3, 1909 in Provo, to Carl Antone and Isabell Elnorah Nielson Nelson. He married Evelyn Yancey June 25, 1930 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died July 6, 1973. He married Lenna Campbell Nov. 16, 1973 in Salt Lake City. He attended Pleasant Grove schools and graduated from BYU, where he was an out-standing member of the track team. He traveled with big bands, in-cluding the Dob Orton Band. He was always involved in music. He was employed at Geneva Steel and later taught at Utah Trade Tech. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and wood carving. He is survived by his wife, Salt Lake City; one daughter: Mrs. Taylor (Loyce) Meldrum, Orem; two stepsons: William Campbell, West Valley City; Gary Campbell, Verona, Italy; seven grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; five great grandc-hildren; four sisters: Mrs. Stan (LaRue) Novak, Afton Fueden, both of West Valley City; Ruby Rosier, Salt Lake City; Elda Hadfield, Lehi. He was preceded in death by a daughter, LaGene Harris; also two infant sons and two infant daughters and a sister, Marie Johnson. Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 20, in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, Provo. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
