Conservationist Advises Leaving Animals Alone Leave young birds and ani-mals where you find them, is the advice given by Arthur Henderson, conservation offic-er for the State Division of Wildlife Resources. Even tho the young birds or animals ap-pear to be abandoned or or-phaned, the bond between par-ent and young is strong and very few of these young crea-tures are abandoned, Mr. Hen-derson said. Each spring Mr. Henderson' office receives many calls ad-vising of young animals or birds that have been brought home by persons who think they are saving their lives. Be-sides breaking up the wild life family, the person is also in violation of the state wildlife code, which prohibits holding in captivity any specie of pro-tected wildlife. Persons violating this code are subject to arrest, Mr. Hen-derson emphasized. The impor-tance of helping wildlife can be implemented by leaving them where they are, he further stated.
