Grove Orem Police have arrested a 19-year-old Lehi man in connection connec-tion with the alleged aggravated rape of a child, a 1st degree felony. Orem police Lt. Doug Edwards said officers received a call from Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo on Friday, June 18, just before 1 a.m. stating a 13- PGman arrested for burglary in Highland A 21-year-old Pleasant Grove man was arrested in connection with a residential resi-dential burglary in Highland on June 5. Police say when a resident resi-dent confronted the suspect, sus-pect, the man ran out of the home. Police were called and were able to stop the suspect as he tried to start his car. The suspect allegedly had numerous items in the vehicle believed stolen from vehicles, garages and the residence. resi-dence. The suspect was booked into the Utah County Jail for residential burglary, vehicle burglary, possession posses-sion of a loaded firearm, and criminal mischief. The victim had attended the carnival in Pleasant Grove, staying stay-ing until closing at 10:30 p.m. After becoming separated from the friend she was supposed to spend the night with, she was walking to a pay phone to call her father when she was approached by a man and a woman who said they would give her a ride to Provo. However, when the girl got into the car, the suspect told the woman passenger to get into the car behind. He then drove to Squaw Peak in Provo Canyon. He allegedly tried to seduce the suspect sus-pect there but she said she had to go home. He then drove down the canyon, pulled into a parking lot near the mouth of the canyon and reportedly raped her. He apologized apolo-gized for what he had done and said he would like to see her again. When he kept pressing the issue, the victim told him that she would be at the Gravitron ride the next day at the carnival. He then drove her home. Once safely home, she told her parents and was taken to the hospital. hos-pital. Investigating officer Detective Sgt. Wade Raab and six other officers offi-cers went to the carnival. Shortly after their arrival, they located a man who closely matched the description of the suspect. The suspect tried to evade police but he was quickly cornered and detained.
