GOLDEN WEDDING Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Richins celebrated cele-brated their Golden Wedding anniversary recently with all of their family at a dinner party held in Salt Lake City. Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary Observed by Arnold Richins Mr. and Mrs. Arnold C. Richins Rich-ins of Pleasant Grove, observed their fiftieth wedding anniversary anniver-sary last week on Thursday, Sept. 11 at a dinner party given by their children at the Cottonwood Cotton-wood Country Club, Salt Lake City. Mrs. Richins was lovely in a blue lace formal and Arnold Arn-old was very dignified in a gold ascot tie and boutonniere. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Richins, who brought their two daughters daugh-ters and two grandchildren, live in Lodi, California. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Richins and family live in Salt Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. W. O. (Ellen) Nelson and family live in Albuquerque, Albu-querque, New Mexico. The Richins have ten grandchildren grand-children and two great-grandchildren. They are planning on continuing their anniversary celebratio by returning to Albuquerque Albu-querque via Grand Canyon and Nogales, Arizona, also New Mexico and Arizona, reliving the scenes of Arnold's World War I days. They will be met in Albuquerque by Kenneth, who will return them home by private plane. Mr. Richins is a native of Pleasant Grove. He was one of the few students who attended the University of Utah prior to World War I. He was a member mem-ber of the Utah National Guard when they were called to the Mexican border skirmish and from there moved into World War I as an artillery officer in the 145th Field Artillery. He has worked for the Utah State Tax Commission, Road Commission and served as Postmaster at Pleasant Grove for many years. In recent years he has worked at Utah State Training School. Mrs. Richins is the former Melva Smith of Lindon. She was married to Arnold in the Salt Lake Temple. They first established a home in Salt Lake City, where Dale was born. They then moved to Price, where Ellen and Kenneth Ken-neth were born. Along with her own three children, she reared eight brothers and sisters who called her "mother." Their mother died when Melva was a young girl. She has given years of service ser-vice to the LDS Church. She has the rare ability to make more beautiful that which God provides, witness her beautiful flowers around her home. |
