Show Funeral Rites for Floyd Urie Held Last Wednesday Impressive funeral rites were conducted last Wednesday at 1 p. m. in the Second-Fourth Ward Chapel fcr Floyd Urie with Bishop Bish-op Keith Miller presiding. Counselor Coun-selor Merlyn Wadley conducted the service. Invocation was offered by Bob Shoell, also a counselor in the bishopric. bish-opric. A vccal solo was given by William Will-iam Schriener of Springville, accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Schriener. First speaker was Max Harper, a close friend of Floyd and his family. Mr. Harper told touching and interesting events from his acquaintance ac-quaintance with the departed and of his honesty and trustworthiness. Another speaker, Arlin Hadley, a brother-in-law, alsa told of Floyd's kindness to everyone, especially es-pecially the younger group, and paid tribute for his meekness and humility. He also gave thoughts of life and eternity from the Discourses Dis-courses of Brigham Young. Musical numbers during the services ser-vices were a vocal solo by Carol Pulley accompanied by Carol Gay Roes, "My Peace I Leave With You," and a duet by Elwood Allen and Lydia Hilton, "Beyond the Sunset." Tliey were accompanied by Mary Nelson, who also played prelude and postlude organ music. Closing remarks of sympathy and appreciation were voiced by Mr. Wadley. Benediction was pronounced by William Blackwell. Interment, directed by Olpin-Sundberg Olpin-Sundberg Mortuary, was made in the Pleasant Grove City cemetery, where Paul Christofferson offered the dedicatorial prayer. Pallbearers were Owen Ash, Floyd Hone, Sterling Hollings-head, Hollings-head, Lew Deveraux, Wayne Ash, Leonard Ash, Lawrence Kocher-hans, Kocher-hans, and Verdun Walker. Flowers were cared for and arranged ar-ranged by the .Second Ward Relief Society. Mr. Urie died at his home, Dec. 16, of complications following a traffic accident, suffered near Springville a week earlier. |
