Show Melvin L. Young C obituaries J. Paul Beck x v; i Melvin Leroy Young, 88, of Lehi, died Friday, Sept. 5, 1986 in the American Fork Hospital. He was born Feb. 18, 1898 in Huntington, to Frank Albion and Karen Metthea Rasmussen Young. He married Bertha Marshall Mar-shall June 12, 1918 in Wellington. She died Nov. 25, 1960. He later married Edna Fjeld Cook July 16, 1962 in Lehi. She died Jan. 27, 1982. Both marriages were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Young was self-employed self-employed in business and was also a farmer. He completed an LDS mission in North Carolina. He enjoyed (Melba) Winn, Sandy; Valene Lawrence, Colusa, Calif.; Mrs. Clarke (Joyce) Nielson, Salt Lake City; Linda Kutkas, Price; two step sons, Kent Cook, West Bountiful; Sherman Cook, Federal Way, Wash.; 22 grandchildren; grand-children; 39 great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister: George (Buck) Young, Richfield; and Allen Young and Ellen Rossi, both of Napa, Calif. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Butler. Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. in the Wing Mortuary Chapel, Lehi. Burial was in the Wellington Cemetery. gardening and golf and was proud of a hole-in-one at age 82. He is survived by one son and six daughters: Marshall Young, Houston, Tex.; Beth Woodward, Elko, Nev.; Louise Young, Santa Cruz, Calif.; Mrs. Jack Joseph Paul Beck, 60, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1986 in Heber. He was born March 25, 1926 in Spanish Fork, the son of Taylor and Eva Pearl Elder Beck. He married June Strong Nov. 19, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple of the LDS Church. He was a member of the Alpine First Ward, active in scouting and the Elders Quorum presidency, Sunday School superintendent, temple worker and served on the ward music committee and was a High Priest. He was employed at Geneva Steel for 39 years and was a veteran of. World War II. Survivors include his wife, one daughter and -five sons: Mrs. Jay (Maralee) Mortensen, David T. Beck, Gary E. Beck, all of American Fork; Ramon P. Beck and Dennis L. Beck, both Alpine; DeMar Beck, serving an LDS mission in Italy; 13 grandchildren; one double trio, with Myrla Greenwood Thayne, Reah Carlton, Geo Shepherd, Margaret Vance, Joan Healey, Margene Marsh and Marilyn Turner, who sang "Look Up to Him," accompanied by Iris Bullock; a solo by Margie Puriri, who sang "The Test," accompanied ac-companied by Margaret Vance; and George Rasmussen and sons Steven, Stanley, Dean and Kenneth, who sang "Our Family is Forever," accompanied by Julie Kleinman. O'Dell Ingram offered the closing prayer. Pallbearers were Bryce Ingram, Trent Healey, Kent Hoggan, Keryl Strong, Larry Strong and Clark Healey. Honorary pallbearers were Joseph P. Beck II, Russell D. Beck, Taylor G. Beck, Jed P. Beck, Matthew J. Mortensen, Daniel E. Beck and T. Anthony Beck. Burial was in the Alpine Cemetery, where Ramon P. Beck dedicated the grave. Prelude and postlude were performed by Margaret Vance and Eugene Healey gave the opening prayer. Speakers included Paul E. Healey, who gave the life sketch; Ronald Strong; Elder W. Grant Bangerter; and Bishop McGhie. Musical numbers included a women's Harold Willard Jensen, 83, of Lehi, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1986 in the American Fork Heritage Center of a lingering illness. He was born March 12, 1903 in Spanish Fork, the son of Juluis C. and Delila Loose Jensen. He married Jennie V. Snyder Feb. 13, 1923 in Provo. He was a steelworker and worked with his father in the bakery and cafe business in Lehi. Survivors include his wife of Lehi, two Orem; Mrs. LeGrand (Donjna) Coomer, Pen Valley, Calif.; Allen Evans, Taylorsville; 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren. grand-children. He was preceded in death by a son, Gordon S. Jensen. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m. in the Wing Mortuary Chapel, 118 E. Main, Lehi. Friends may call prior to services. Hunger Harper, 96, of Pleasant Grove, died Wednesday, Wed-nesday, Sept. 3, 1986 in Pleasant Grove. She was born May 5, 1890 in Lehi, a daughter of William Adolf and Cora Ezeline Wells Hunger. She married Clifton H. Harper June 5, 1912 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died Dec. 9, 1969. She had been an active member of the LDS Church, living in the Grove Ward. She had served as a t member of the ' Relief Society presidency, as a Relief Society visiting teacher, coordinator of the Junior Sunday School and in various She is survived by four sons and two daughters: Gale Harper, Boyd Harper, Max Harper and Darrell Harper, all Pleasant Grove; Cora Anderson, Salt Lake City; Rose Baird, Kearns; 25 grandchildren, grand-children, 73 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren; one brother, Eldon M. Prelude and postlude music was played by Eva Carson. Mark Tripp gave the invocation. Speakers included Bishop Gray; R. Ward Webb; Joan Hardin, who gave the biographical sketch; and Dennis Sampson. Interment was in the Lehi City Cemetery, where the grave was dedicated by Varlon Clark. Matilda Taylor Edwards Ed-wards Devitt, 100, died Sept. 3, 1986, in American Fork. She was born June 26, 1886, in Loa, Utah, to Allen and Phoebe Ann Roberts Taylor. She married Joseph Franklin Edwards on Dec. 23, 1903, in the Manti LDS Temple. He died Feb. 24, 1939. She married Ernest C. Devitt July 8, 1942, in American Fork. He died Nov. 11, 1968. She was a member of the LDS Church and served in the Relief Society and other church positions in both both of Salt Lake City; Solen T. Edwards, St. , George; Leo T. Ed-', wards, Sun City, Ariz.; two stepsons, Russell E. Devitt, Salt Lake City, Willard Devitt, American Fork; 15 grandchildren; and 16-great 16-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, De Von, and daughters Arda and Ella Harmon. Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 8, at noon in the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 E. 100 North, American Fork.
