Williamsons Plan Open House Honorinq 50th Anniversary Sunday Sunday, Oct. 11 will mark the 50th anniversary of the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Chris J. Williamson. To honor their parents the family has arranged arrang-ed an informal open house at their home, 298 West 3rd North, American Fork. Friends and relatives are invited in-vited to call between the hours of 3 and 5 o'clock p.m. They reuest no gifts, please. Mr. Williamson was born on April 26, 1878 at Agersted, Denmark, Den-mark, to Niels Christian and Mary Simenson Williamson. He was three years old when the family immigrated to America, settling in Minnesota and then South Dakota. He was 18 when they came to Utah. His young, adult years were spent in farming far-ming and construction work. He helped build the railroad through Provo Canyon. For 28 years he operated a blacksmith shop and then a garage in Pleasant Grove. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Fire Department and was assistant chief for 20 years. He married Ethel Mayberry in Provo in 1909. She died in 1919, leaving two small daughters, daugh-ters, Nina and Marie. On Oct. 11, 1920, Mr. Williamson Will-iamson and Mrs. Ruby Phillips Fillmore, a young widow with two small daughters, Ethel and Frances, were married in the parsonage of the Methodist minister in Provo. Five sons and a daughter were born to them. The family moved to American Ameri-can Fork in 1931 and with the exception of a few years spent in Vernon have lived there. Of the ten children, nine are living. liv-ing. An adult son, Rulon, and his wife, met their deaths in an auto accident on Christmas eve in 1960. Mrs. Williamson's hobbies have been making quilts, prized priz-ed by her children and grandchildren, grand-children, and growing flowers, inside and outside of her home. She was a member of the PL Grove fire department auxiliary auxil-iary and with her husband traveled tra-veled to many conventions. Mrs. Williamson was born June 29, 1894, one of nine children chil-dren to Mathew J. and Elizabeth Eliza-beth Ann Phillips. She attended attend-ed schools in Provo and for three years was employed at the Utah State Hospital. An excellent ex-cellent cook, holidays have always al-ways been festive occasions when the families gathered at the Williamson home. Joining in making the Golden Wedding of their parents memorable mem-orable will be their children, Mrs. Marie Robertson, Nor-walk, Nor-walk, Calif. ; Mrs. E. G. (Nina) Oare, Provo; Mrs. E. G. (Ethel) (Eth-el) Davis, Midvale; Mrs. Dar-rell Dar-rell (Frances) Schulsen, Sandy John M., Orem; Roy E., Kays-ville; Kays-ville; Norman C., Layton; Junior Jun-ior N., American Fork; Mrs. George (Ann) Gardner, Lindon. Mr. and Mrs. Williamson have 40 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. |
