Show Funeral Rites for Harriet O. Smith Held Wednesday Funeral rites were held Wednesday, Wednes-day, August 5 for Harriet Ovard Smith, 82, who died Sunday afternoon af-ternoon in the Utah Valley Hospital Hos-pital of causes incident to age. The services were under the direction dir-ection of J. C. Hilton, group leader lead-er of the High Priests in the Pleasant Grove Sixth Ward. Prayer at the mortuary was offered by Bishop Farrell Sor-enson. Sor-enson. The . services opened with prelude pre-lude music by Laurel Thorne and the opening prayer was offered by Paul Blackhurst. A biography of Mrs. Smith was given by Mary Pulley and was followed by a violin solo by Leland Priday, accompanied by Mrs. Priday. Speaker at the services was Bishop Lewis J. Harmer of the First Ward. A duet, Norma Smith and Lor-na Lor-na Backus, "Sunset" was accompanied accom-panied by Laurel Thorne. After closing remarks by Mr. Hilton, Ida Mae Christiansen, Al-ene Al-ene Fugal and Mary Nielson sang "When You Come to the End of a Perfect Day" 'accompanied by Mrs. Thome. Closing prayer was offered by Joseph Beverldge and the grave in the American Fork City Cemetery Ceme-tery was dedicated by Thomas A. Greenwood. Pallbearers were Leland, Richard, Rich-ard, Danny, Paul, George, Jr., Smith 'and Lawrence Hardman. Flowers were oared for and arranged ar-ranged by the Sixth Ward Relief Society. Harriet Ovard Smith was born July 11, 1877 in American Fork, a daughter of Joseph W. and Rhuemma Hess Ovard. She married mar-ried Alonzo F. Smith, .Sept. 20, 1894 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Tem-ple. He died Feb. 19, 1959. She lived in Pleasant Grove since 1949. She was an active member of the LDS church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Rheumma Francom, Pleasant Grove; six sons, Nile, George and Lyman, Pleasant Grove; Eugene, Earl, San Diego, Calif. ; Elliot, Le-hi; Le-hi; 32 grandchildren, 32 greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; two brothers, four sisters. |
