Show Funeral RiJc-s for Bruce Leon Jackson Held Wednesday i i Relatives and friends from here ! and neighboring' communities as-j as-j sembled Wednesday afternoon at j the Third-Sixth ward chapel to 1 pay last tribute of respect to the memory of Bruce Leon Jackson, 49, and express sympathy and appreciation ap-preciation for his family. The impressive service began at 1 p.m. with Bishop Willis Banks of the Third ward presiding, and counselor Parley Christianson conducting. con-ducting. Invocation was offered by Ernost Sweat. First speaker was Parley Christianson Chris-tianson of the bishopric, close neighbor and childhood friend of Mr. Jackson. Mr. Christianson reminesced of early days and pleasant memories both in the home of Mr. Jackson's mother and Mr. Jackson's family, as neighbors of today. Niels Fugal, also a life-long friend of the family, told of their years of close friendshhip, and gave a fine message of faith and encouragement to the wife and children of the deceased. Calvin Walker told of early days when he and Mr. Jackson formed their first ties when they entered school, and adminished the sons to cherish and comfort their mother moth-er in her hour of needi. Two musical numbers interspersed intersper-sed the speakers, a vocal duet "Beyond "Be-yond Today" by Avis F. West and Leone Told, and vocal duet "Beyond "Be-yond the Sunset by Lydia Hilton and Elwood Allen. Miss Jeniel Fu-gal Fu-gal accompanied all numbers and also played prelude and postlude organ music. Benediction was pronounced by Douglas Nielson. Prior to the church services, prayer was offer in the home by Robert Penrod. Interment, directed by Olpin Mortuary, was made in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery where Bishop Willis Banks offered the dedicatorial prayer. Pallbearers were Cloyd Christianson, Chris-tianson, Elton Robb, Joseph Hilton, Newel Adamson, Robert Penrod, and Leland Carlson. Third ward Relief Society cared for and arranged ar-ranged the flowers. Mr. Jackson died at the American Amer-ican Fork hospital Sunday morning morn-ing of a lingering illness. He was bom at Pleasant Grove Jan. 2, 1906, the son of Harvey and Jean-ette Jean-ette Harvey Jackson, and has resided re-sided his entire life in Pleasant G'rove. He was a member of the LDS Church, holding the office of Elder. He married Violet Cox Dec. 16, 1927, in Salt Lake City. Their marriage mar-riage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Feb. 17, 1954. He is survived by his wife and six children, who are Russell, Maurice, Eugene, Paul, Colleen, and Kathryn, of Pleasant Grove. Survivors also include seven grandchildren. |
