Show Life Long Resident Called By Death Joseph Earl Foutz, 65. died at the county hospital, July 11, of ulcers of the stomach, after several months illness. He was born in PleaAant j Grove June 22. 1871. and had lived here all of his life. He was the son of Jacob and Sarah Ann Thorn? Foutz, pioneer settlers cf Pleasant Grove. His father came to Utah in the year 1847, in the second company com-pany of Mormon pioneers. Surviving- are one daughter, Winona Win-ona Foutz of Bakersfield, California, and the following brothers and sisters: sis-ters: Fred Foutz, Pleasant Grove; David, George and James H. Foutz, and Ida M. Smith, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Margaret Evans. Klamath Falls, , Oregon, and Mrs. Myrtle Fitzger-j aid, Tamarack, Idaho. j Funeral services were held in the j Second ward chapel Wednesday at 2 o'clock p. m., with Bishop B. H. Adams in charge. Stella Hardman and Viola Beers sang "Rock of Ages," followed by the invocation, offered by Weston Hales, a nephew-in-law of the deceased. de-ceased. A violin solo, "O My Father," was rendered by Lois West, accompanied accom-panied by Mary Wilson. A sketch of the life of Mr. Foutz was read by Bishop Adams. The first speaker was James H. Walker, a life long friend of Mr. Foutz. Other speakers were Ezra F. Walker and Brother Coulam, an early neighbor of the Foutz family. Closing remarks were given by Bishop B. H. Adams and the closing number was a duet, "Sometime We'll Understand" by Viola Beers and Stella! Hardman. The benediction 1 was pronounced by George E. Foutz. Interment was in the Pleasant 1 Grove cemetery, where the grave was dedicated by George Foutz. |
