With the turn of world events, particularly during the past five years, birth registration has assumed as-sumed a new significance. The earliest need is to secure ration books and, for babies born to wives of servicemen to establish dependency allotments. Applications Appli-cations for welfare assistance must be substantiated by proof of age and parentage. As the child becomes older he must present a birth certificate to prove he is of age to work; to enter or prove exemption from military service; to drive an automobile;, auto-mobile;, to marry; to vote; to inherit in-herit property or life insurance; for passport for travel out of the United States, and many other reasons. The law has provided a means by which these facts may be recorded re-corded and made easily available in years to come. The parent who neglects or fails to 'make sure that his child's birth is promptly and accurately recorded record-ed has failed in an essential duty of parenthood as well as citizenship, citizen-ship, the Department of Health announces. If you are not sure ask the attending physician or the local registrar in your community, com-munity, or write to the State Division of Vital Statistics, State Capitol Building, Salt Lake City, giving the full name of each child, the date and place of birth and the parents' full names.
