Show Sway In the Wind Maximum sway of the Empire State building in the wind is 2.07 inches, according to J. Charles Hathbun, who used the Empire State building for hl3 observations In preparing a paper, "Wind Forces on a Tall Building." He states In his article that "It is to be noted that the foregoing data arc based on the greatest recorded deflections. That storms producing greater deductions havo occurred Is doubtless true, so this value must bo accepted with caution." The building has an observed ob-served vibration period of 11.25 seconds. |
