Show Cops New Car Is Build For Speed Memo: To Editor. Dear Abe: All the time you thought I was gathering news I will now have to admit I was taking a gander at the new Ford Police Special which has been purchased by the city. Mayor W. Robert Marrott told us about it, and said (in a whisper that couldn't be heard j more than 100 feet) that is was not really a Ford, but a cross between be-tween a Ford and a Mercury. The Ford part is the body especially athletic for a Ford, too. But under the hood the Ford is not there, but a Mercury engine is. Now you know, boss, Mercury was an ancient guy with wings on his heels, all the time looking as if he were flying low. Well, that's just what Policemen Adamson and Carroll say about the new police car. "It'll fly low," said Marion, "and if there are any motorists don't think it can, just let them try to fly lower. We're out to get speeders, runners of stop signs, and boys who use their alcohol as internal rubdown." For your information it is almost al-most poudre blue, and has a red spot light by the left windshield. P.S. To further recognize it, it has a red spotlight jutting up from the trunk door. i |
