Houston, Ross Ingersoll and Benjamin Moffett. The complete board of directors includes the above men and Delbert Chipman. A number of changes, both in the policy of the store and the arrangements, arrange-ments, are to be made in the near future. The first move to made will be that of the Moffett feed mill to the Co-op feed department. Ben will transfer his equipment and necessary new machinery will be added to make one of the most modern feed grinding and storage mills in the district. Changes in the present Co-op. feed department will be made to install the machinery and provide additional storage room. F. (M. Houston assumed his duties at the store commencing yesterday morning and will be found on the job each day at the institution. Officers of the 'Concern admitted that j a number of policies of the institution are to be radically changed but at present are not ready to announce thm. We feel that this is- a opportune time to express a few sentiments and facts about this most wonderful organization; and we take this liberty to print these few thoughts. It would be information I am sure to say to the buying public the life of ' a successful store is hut (25) to (30) years time. The American Fork Co-op has now outlived two (30) year cycles of business, having past its 60th year in business last year. This is a very phenomenal record for a store to be continuously in business. It would also be interesting to know that the American Fork Co-op is the oldest existing department store in the world being older than any of the big department stores of the East and West; being organized in the year 1868 and has been continuously under a co-operative plan ever since. To out live the alotted time of a succssful business institution twice is a most extraordinary thing and the American Fork Co-op. is to be most highly commended. There must be some, reasons for such outstanding attainment's at-tainment's and I would like to make mention of some of them here. The American Fork Co-op. has long been a store with quality merchandise with a guarantee to the public, ever-ready ever-ready to stand behind their commodities. commodit-ies. It has ever been a criterion on prices in these business districts; polite, courteous service and treatment treat-ment to the buying public, togther with the strictest honesty in dealings. Any institution conducted under such exacting rules and long existing facts could not help but succeed in the highest sense of the word. The new incoming directors and officers have desired me to make mention men-tion of the fact that they will continue con-tinue to operate the business under the same sound business facts that has made this an outstanding institution institu-tion of the time. They further contemplate con-template engendering new ideas and business principles to keep abreast of the progressive times of the day. such as store arrangements, service, and merchandise at the right prices. Let's get behind the American Fork Co-op. Inst., and help it along on the road to a "100 years in business," we need such good institutions as this in our midst. o |
