Show 4 0 THE PAYSONIAN, PAYSON, UTAH, FEBRUARY 17, 1922. J.YCBUM COURSE PROGRAM , NIGHT FOR TOMORROW Payson Rifle Clnb Seeks More Members it i Edward B. Grama, executive officer of the Payson Rifle club, who has shown exceptional ability as marksman, has been recommended instructor for the club. The club now has a membership of twenty enthusiastic marksmen and it is desired to add at least ten to the membership. Any citizen, physically fit and of good character, is eligible for emberphip. Members In the local club automatically become mebers of the National Bifle association, recognized by the war department and supported by the fedora government. Members are urged to seek individual membership in the National Bifle association. Speaking of the association, Mr. Grams says: ?It is the only organization in existence that looks after the interests of the American Rifleman through bad timeg as well &a good, is instru mental in obtaining purchase and issue privileges together with the establishment of government ranges. The new Springfield rifle will make its appearance within the next six months. The new specal Springfield match rifle, developed for competition purposes, will be procur able within a short time with new accessaries, special barrels and sights. These will be available and at minimum cost only to individual members, It also entitles you to a chance to attend the national matches with all expenses paid. I assure you it will be the best vacation you ever had. Members are in ho way bound to military service. The great prestige in the promotion of marksmanship is this: if we can develop 50 per cent of our able bodied men into first rate riflemen no other country will want us to tTy our skill on them and our country will never enter war unless forced to. But we will never be caught helpless, even though our armF and navy may be reduced to a minimum in compliance with the disarmament plan. We need a reduction in the coet of defense but must not be entirely unprepared. Now as to the sporting part of it. There is no better sport. You are supplied with rifles and ammunition and a range where your skill is measured perfectly. In no other way will you evert know just how good a shot you are. The cost of being member is slight the only expense we have is what ever improvements we wish to make on the range. No officer draws a salary. The annual dues of each member should not ex ceed $3. Our allotment of ammoni tion for 1922 wil amount to $300 and we will use it all. Any one with nerve may good vision and steady qualify at least as dtarp shooter by proper training and practice. We have several experienced rifle . men in our club who will gladly as sist any member who wishes to learn the game right. Watch the columns of the for th date of our next meeting and be there. I will also try to write an interesting article on shoot ing and it will appear in the next Issue, giving the date of our next meeting.'
