Show Wilson School Notes THE PAYSON There is an art exhibit being held at the Wilson School during the last two weeks of this month. The exhibit is being shown by a few of our own local artists and anyone who would like to view this exhibit is welcome during the school hours for the remainder of this month. ON TARGET EVERY TIME Our Wilson School held Sopt. Joe A. Reidhead the desk of the Superintendent Instead article From of the I had planned for this issue, I would like to talk more about the shared responsibility between the home, the school and the community. I briefly mentioned this last week. Last Friday morning at 8.30 a.m., a little boy was struck by an automobile while crossing one of the main streets in the district. A crosswalk guard was present and the young man driving the vehicle did not seem to be in error, yet a child was struck. Fortunately his injuries were not of a serious nature but the fact that such an accident can and did happen points out the need for all of us to be safety conscious. We in the schools must consistently work with the children to help them understand the hazards involved in crossing streets, on play grounds and at home. Parents have a responsibility to talk with their children about safety and hazards they may encounter. All of us should be very cautious when dnving in school zones and residential zones where children may be playing. The nation ached with anxiety for the lives of the three astronauts on Apollo 13. Just the possibility that they would not be able to return to earth was a horrifying thought, yet for a few moments last Friday morning an injured child caused the same anxiety for those who witnessed the accident. A life is a life and all of us should strive to make a childs life as safe as possible. Will you please help us by helping your child to be safety conscious. If there are hazards you are aware of, discuss these with your child and could all of us who drive automobiles think how serious and teirible it would be to innocently snuff out the life of a small child and jiractice good defensive driving habits, particularh in school zones.
